post nasal drip?

My sinuses have been draining all night and all day into my stomach. It hurts a little and is gurgling. I can't take any products that dry it out or anything, so it's just allowed to run. I ate some Lucky Charms and then later some mashed potatos, it's still a little sore.

What precautions can I take so that I won't v* from this? I'm worried. Thank you.

This works for me...you however could be different..

I usually make sure that I drink a lot of water to dilute the drainage junk... also eat some bread to soak up that gross stuff too.. and if all else fails take the holy grails of upset stomachs...antacids or ginger. Edited by: rayvin400

    Do you have CF? Your username caught my eye. :}

Like Rayvin, I drink water, eat bread, and occasionally take ginger.
Even when I've swallowed enough lung/sinus garbage to kill a horse, I
still swear by my enchanted combination. ;D

You know, I was wondering about this because I've heard of people being nauseas from sinus drainage but with all the colds and sinus infections I've had, I've never been sick to my stomach. Why do some people feel ill from that?

65roses... I have the same problem right now. I feel a little n* but once I eat I am ok. I have never v'ed from postnasal drip, unless I was a little, little kid. Right now I am eating veggie soup, bread and butter and drinking water. I feel good right now! GOOD LUCK!

Swiftette: It isn't uncommon for some people to gag on mucus or v* when
they ingest too much. Sinus drainage may also contain blood and/or
bacterial toxins that can make a tummy very unhappy. I personally have
no problem with swallowing blood and a whole manner of infectious
garbage as long as I have food in my stomach. Mucus + empty stomach =
    eeeurrrgggghhh!

    65roses: Yessum, I do.

65roses--- I love that little picture of (what is it?) A muppet? He's so freakin' cute whoever he is!!! Hope you're feeling better. I have been pumping myself full of Airborne for the past few days and my cold is going away pretty fast!

I have this problem constantly and when I start coughing, I start G* everywhere! I just do my best to "talk myself down" or I get on the telephone and have a friend talk to me about anything and everything to distract me from my intense nausea.

When the nausea subsides a bit, I try and put food in my stomach because that tends to lessen the effects of the post nasal drip. It is like my stomach gets hungry and upset because all it has to *eat* is the mucus.

well, I guess that's the one up side to having GERD-I have a very low gag reflex.

65roses: I'm still in one piece. I hope it stays that way (tirrrrred
of antibiotics-- I want a normal sleeping schedule), though my brother
is currently coating the house in germs. :/

    How're you doing?

Squeaks- I hear ya... glad you are doing okay, aren't antibiotics a pain?

I've been in "the club" since October, resistant bugs and some problems with my pancreas and stomach. I spent over a week on the vent at first, but slowly getting better. I'm on the list for a transplant. On top of it I got a good ol' fashion flu. I'm so sad I'm laughing.
