I just want to know if I'm the only one who does this:

You KNOW that eating at a certain fast food place will probably make
you feel gross later, but your stomach is feeling just fine at the
time, and you're hungry, and that cheeseburger would just taste SO
good... So you eat it. And an hour or two later, you're sitting in
front of your computer with a bottle of Tums on one side of you and a
bottle of Pepto on the other, reading these forums and trying to remind
yourself that it's just indigestion.

Please tell me that I'm not the only bad food decision maker in the group? Heh

Also, do any of you mistake other stomach things (like gas or
indigestion or heartburn) for n*? Sometimes it seems like the slightest
little nudge of anything in my stomach area triggers the "I'm n*" part
of my brain... And even though the rational side of me is saying "It's
just heartburn", the phobic side of me is insisting that I'm n*.

Just curious!

Gah, yes. I know what you mean. I do this too. I'm thinking to myself "If I eat this, I'll be in the threhold of pain later," but I eat it anyway. Actually, it happens to me every time I eat anything... But anyway, as for the second thing, I know how that is, too. Sometimes people tell me that's it's all in your head and you're not really sick, but it doesn't feel that way.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that with the food decisions. I
always feel like a complete idiot later when I'm chugging Pepto like a
drunken frat boy on a beer bong. Tonight it just gave me some
recognizable indigestion, but I'm not always so lucky.

How do normal people tell the difference between different types of stomach woes?

ahh....that made me laugh. Yes, I would have to say that I do the exact same things, in fact I DID the exact same thing tonight because I didn't feel like cooking dinner when I got home.

Whew *wipes brow*

How funny that we emets seem to sometimes have the worst decision
making skills in regards to the food we eat. We should publish a book
or something of all the foods that are "emet safe"; foods with a low
chance of bringing on that "What the hell was I thinking when I ate
that?" feeling.

I made my fiance promise to keep me from eating certain things from
fast food places (like Del Taco; I'm okay with most of their food but
their steak stuff just tears me up for some reason)

Yep...I do that with Taco Bell...lol. I get so hungry that I am like "Taco Bell sounds soooooo good, screw the consequences!!!" Well, I eat it, then I pay for it later! Gas, bloating, heartburn, IBS attacks, etc.

My problem is a bit different than yours though....I fear eating from Taco Bell because I feel that there must be someone sick preparing my food. I have it in my head that they are not very sanitary????

Anyways, I eat it because I love it, and then I feel soooooooo guilty afterwards, and I worry for the rest of the night about "what if I catch a bug or get food poisoning?" Not to mention how sick I feel!

You are not alone! I hate when that happens, but I do it an awful lot. Charlotte

You are absolutely right about how you feel. Did you see the
movie "Super Size Me?" It addresses exactly what you wrote.
I taught nutrition at a college for a few years and can
tell you that fast food is the worst food on the world. There is
no nutiritional value whatsoever. The food is full of sugar,
chemicals, trans fatty acids and sodium It is made to entice you
with its flavor and keep you coming back. They know you will feel
gross a few hours later but you WILL be back.

Mmmm...McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Taco Bell...I eat it all, and 9 times out of 10 I hate myself for it later. It tastes so good but is so bad for you. I know it's all some kind of conspiracy, and the cow I am eating is probably a combination of fifteen different cow parts from 10 different cows, but it tastes so freaking good that I don't care. But two hours later, my stomach hurts, I am running to the bathroom to poo, and I curse Ronald McDonald to hell. So why do I do it? Because I'm like every other red-blooded stupid American who falls for that trap. And I've got the twenty extra pounds to prove it. I hate our country. Really I do.

Stella, I haven't seen the movie, but I probably should. I know how
nutritionless fast food is, and that's one of the reasons I stay away
from it most of the time (that, and I'm a poor college student). We try
to cook at home whenever we can... But sometimes it just gets to be too
much temptation, and we visit the not-so-wonderful worlds of In-N-Out
and Del Taco.

I was told once from my chiropractic that if you leave a Mc's hamburger out for a long period of time, it will stay the same. Because of no nutritional value no bugs will come near it and so it can not be brokendown. But oh how I love d' Wendy's haahahaah.

I think we all have nausea because we are constantly always aware of how our stomachs are feeling. Every little move our stomach makes or every little twinge we get sets us off to wondering what the hell is this? I get this all the time. I think if I wasnt so focused on how ny stomach was feeling I wouldnt always feel sick. I DO NOT eat fast food. I think noone should. Emet or nonemet. Its nothing but arter clogging garbage!! When we get take out food we usually do Subway, its so much better for you. My kids are great eaters, fruits, veggies, you name it!! my 3 year old just loves salads. really though, fast food is crappy so avoid it when you can!!

I don't eat fast food very often. If I do my stomach is feeling GREAT that day. If I'm the least bit queasy you can't forget it. If I have to eat out most of the time I'll go to Subway or a deli where I can get a turkey sandwich or something. Turkey is a "safe" food for me. I LOVE Big Mac's but only eat about one every 5 years cause they make me feel so bad. But, boy, when I do eat one, mmmmmmm, they taste soooo good!
