So I found out tuesday that my neighbors son was up all night with horrible v* and d*. Then that same day, I find out my neighbors son on the other sid eof me had it last week too! They are surrounding me. I am frightened. It sounds like a doosy of a bug! I so hope my family and I don't get it. We weren't really around the sickies, but we were around their parents recently, but non of them have been sick so far! I am just wondering though... about a moth ago I had some serious d* for about 5 hours. It wasn't the kind I get when I am panicky. It just came out of no where and I have only had d* like that once before when I was terribly sick. I wonderif maybe I already caught the bug... I hope so!

I know, everyone here seems to be ill too. The sv that's going around
here has been lasting 5-7 days - how horrible!! And that's not feeling
lousy for 5-7 days, but v*and d* for the entire time!! I'm terrified that
we're going to get it - it's driving me nuts!! It's been going for about a
week now, so I've been told, and I'm hoping that in another week or so
it'll die back down.

Peachy,
Do you know for sure that people are having it come out of both ends for a week straight? Because logic tells me that would put someone in the hospital. Sometimes people exagerate, kwim?

That's what I was told by my peds office yesterday.....they're seeing
kids that are v* for a day, feel a bit better the next day, then v*ing
again for 3-5 more days. Not constant v*, like every hour or anything,
but several times a day. I talked to Gubba (another member here) on
the phone yesterday, she lives in the same city as I, and she also
confirmed what I'd heard. She talked to a woman that had it for 5 days
and said it's the sickest she's ever been in her life. I think that woman
ended up going to the dr. and got some phenergan and anti-d* meds
and that they both worked well. So I guess, coming from a dr. and
then from someone that's experienced it, I'd say that's pretty accurate,
unfortunately.

I too have the feeling of doom and I can't take it anymore. I can't sleep at night because I'm just so scared that one of us is going to wake up with it! UGH! I can't take this anymore. And the sv* that's going around that last 5-7 days sounds extremely horrible, I don't know what I would do.

The sickness you guys are describing that is lasting so long sounds like what my sons teacher had a few weeks ago. She only had one night og v'ing, but she had diarrhea and felt bad for about 5 days. I am hoping that maybe it is dying down here, I am trying to be hopeful anyway. I had to take my youngest in to the doctor yesterday (she wasnt sick, it was for something else) and the office was pretty slow, so I took that as a good sign.

I am just so ready for this month to be over, I know we all are!!

One other note, I know for a fact (because I have done it with my kids), that you can prolong the v'g and d* by starting back on regular food too soon, especially dairy products. My pedatrician said that some the the sv's can make you lactose intolerant for a period of time. Sticking to the BRAT diet until your digestive system has completely recovered seems to help a lot. It is possible that people with days ofv'g and d* could be aggravating their systems in this way.
