I was just wondering tonight if there is any pattern to how emets like their meat cooked. This poll will help reveal the answer.

Red meat i love medium/rare and I have to have chkecken and pork cooked properly (although they have to be anyway don't they!)
Burn it to a crisp for me, thanks! I just can't get my head around eating rare steak, etc. I mean, I know it's ok, the bacteria's all dead, I just can't bring myself to try it.
So, well done is my preference there =]

I have been recovering from a really bad emet attack over the last year, so i still don't eat a huge variety of foods but i have made a decision to never eat meat again, i havent really missed it as i haven't eaten it for the past 4 years, i'm not to fussed about chicken either. Once i have conquered my emet and eating woes i would like to have a little fish in my diet as i think i miss that the most......i look forward to the day of eating a tuna and mayo sandwich!
Medium Well more on the side of Medium. I used to eat it well done, put I slowly started eating it Medium and it really does taste so much better!!
I eat my steaks medium, but my chicken and ground beef and pork well done.
The voting doesn't surprise me that much. A majority for well and no one picking rare so far. I'm pretty sure this is out of touch with regular people, because well done is not a popular choice otherwise. I often have to explain to servers what it means.
Yabba dabba doo, compare our poll to this one:
http://www.londoneats.com/news/poll.asp?PollID=15
It found that only 10.1 percent like their steak well, and only 28.6 percent medium well or higher. Nearly half of eaters liked their steak medium rare or lower.

Well it depends on the meat. I don't mind eating whole cuts of beef or lamb cooked medium, and I always thoroghly cook chicken.
I don't like pork, but I wouldn't eat it anything but completely done.
I know they offer it other ways in Europe but here in the US
thrichinella is so common that you don't really find it any way other
than well done.
I don't know if we're including fish here, but I absolutely refuse to
eat sushi. My friends have tried to get me to try it hundreds of times
but I've read about some of the parasites and such that you can get
from bad sushi, and it really isn't worth the risk in my opinion. I
mean these are types of food poisoning that you don't want to mess
around with. Some of them can be so bad that, believe it or not, v*ing
might actually be the least of your worries.

I'm happily vegetarian Not because of emet though, because of my moral reasons
I like hamburgers and steaks medium well. Chicken and pork need to be done well. Well, at least until the pink's gone. When it's too dry, it's nasty.
I don't eat red meat or pork and I burn the bejebus out of my chicken.
\"This too shall pass\"
I dont cook muchbut my mom cooks it well done. I like it hard (and sometimes dry)lol, so dont want it anywhere raw at all.

Among the 40 who eat meat,23 like it well (57.5%) and another 9 like it medium well, for a total of 80% of emets who like meat cooked more than medium, compared with 28 percent of the regular population.
Who is the lone emet who eats meat rare? He or she will not be tending the grill at the emet picnic.

I'm with confused- I've been a vegetarian for 13 years now, and it's completely non-emet related. Just think it's thuroughly disgusting to eat flesh- and that there is no difference between eating a cow or chicken then there is eating a cat or a dog. That's not saying vegetarianism is for everybody- I just can't see myself ever going back.
But I do like my tofu burgers well done- nice and crispy!

oh my gosh I almost spit my diet coke on my monitor laughing...
shiva, how does one "burn the bejebus" out of chicken? LMAO, I don't know why that struck me so funny...
I live on the wild side and take my beef medium well. And although I am freakishly nitpicky about my chicken (cut it into small bits making sure there's no evidence of pink), I stop short of "bejebus" and only cook until "gotta dip it in a lot of bbq sauce 'cause it's so dry."

The only meat that I eat is fish. And I love rare tuna (seared ahi).
That's me that likes my meat medium/rare! Apart from making sure chicken and pork are cooked, and I dont eat seafood (even tho I love it) - food never bothers me!
I often overcook my meat to make sure all the evil germs have died

Well done!
I don't burn it (usually), but I get it very well done.
<3 Anya--
PM me for contact info such as skype, email, or facebook. Thanks!
I like my meat rare if I can get away with it. Really only applies to
roast beef, though. Bacteria don't grow well in muscle tissue.
On the other hand, I won't eat hamburgers unless they're very, very dead.
Pinkish chicken actually tastes quite good, but I don't recommend it.
I've never developed salmonellosis, oddly enough. (Salmonella can use a
certain cellular protein to enter the lining of the intestine and my
protein is dysfunctional. In terms of being an emet, that's one massive
biological error I enjoy. Haha. ;D )
I like my pork cooked but not burned. Parasitic infections are yuck.
...But I do eat sushi and sashimi. If you go to a good Japanese
restaurant run by Japanese people, picking up tapeworms from raw fish
is pretty rare. The only thing I won't touch are uncooked molluscs. For
whatever reason, they scream OMG NOROVIRUS at me.
In short, I'm adventurous with food (to a degree) unless there's a risk of picking up staphylococcus. Staph is naaaaaasty.
