Hello Everyone! I joined this site in November, but too afraid to even THINK about v* or read other people's stories freaked me out so bad, I haven't been on this site since -- BUT....I have started anti-depressents and seeing a therapist which is helping tremendously, so I feel "safe" coming online again and reading all your thoughts.

    My questions is...

During my treatment, I have been so interested in overcoming this fear, that I began checking out many books from the library on anxiety and phobias. I have found one book in particular, "Anxiety, Phobias and Panic" by Renea Puerifoy to be particularly helpful (actually call it my bible) and was wondering if during the treatment process, any of you have found any helpful books or articles on emets and the anxiety we get from it? I'd be very interested to know, and read more books.

    Thanks!

Bourne's book "Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" is quite helpful

My dad (who sufers from depression and anxiety but defo not an emet) recently waas givendetails of a UK organisation called No Panic. He showed me the stuff and it mentions several times fear of v*. I have requested the info pack and am waiting for it, apparently it offersa helpline, advice and details of local counselling and help groups. Im not holding my breath but if it is any good I will report back.

I am so glad to hear you say that, Sage! My boyfriend just bought me that book last week!

    Hi Laney,

I am a member of No Panic as well. Their info leaflets are very useful although not much I didn't already know. I also tried the helpline once but I'm not very confident so it was hard to actually get into the conversation!

In response to your intial question rockinred23 I have:

Feel the fear and do it anyway - Susan Jeffers

The panic attack, anxiety and phobia solutions handbook - Muriel MacFarlane

And also the one Sage mentions which has probably been the most useful one.

    Good luck!

I ditto Sage's recommendation...I've read the chapter on exposure therapy to tatters!
Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is a freedom. - Marilyn Ferguson

Habituation always defeats fear. - Edmund Bourne
