I'm a little worried about my dad. He told me yesterday that he's
having an MRI because apparently he isn't producing enough pituitary
hormone. I read that the most common cause is a pituitary tumor, which
is kind of unnerving.

Does anyone know anything about this? From what I've found online they
say the outlook is usually good, but I'm scared it'll turn out to be
something serious. I don't want anything to be wrong with him.

Well....if i'm not mistaken, pituitary tumors aren't usually malignant (cancerous)....I had a friend years ago with the same thing and she had it reomoved and was fine......It's great he's getting the MRI, it will find anything serious or not and then he can be treated, probably with some kind of hormone....my best wishes to you and your dad

Well that is good to hear.

I know this is probably just my usual tendancy to overreact and assume the worst, but I can't help it.

Thanks for responding, I usually talk to him when I'm worried about
stuff like this, but I haven't been doing that now because I don't want
to upset him too. He's probably a little nervous as well and he doesn't
need me freaking him out.

My 11 year old niece has had one for several years. She is having some
complications but nothing life threatening.
