I just woke up to the sound of my boyfriend being sick. I am so scared. Is anyone there?

It was such a nice day today...around 80. I was starting to let my guard down a little. I NEVER wake up during the night...one time in college, I slept through a fire drill! Why did I have to wake up for this? I am so scared. I have to leave today to go for business training until Wednesday. My worst fear is being on an airplane and being sick! I don't know what is wrong with him. I am too chicken to go downstairs to ask him. I know that he has really bad allergies and has been blowing his nose a lot today...could that make someone sick? I don't know how I'm going to get through this. I want to call my mom, but it's 3 in the morning. Can someone help me?

Sometimes post nasal drip can make people sick. Just try and stay calm
(easier said that done?!)... Take a few deep breaths.

Thanks for answering me. This may be a stupid question, but can cats carry germs. I don't want my cats up here around me if they have been downstairs exposed to his germs. Is that stupid?

I would say that if the cat was sitting right next to where he was V* and
then came upstairs.. and you pet the cat.. then then put your hands in
your mouth... maybe? But, really, what are the odds?

And really, the odds of your boyfriend actually having a SV* that you will
catch is slim. Get some Emergen-c or Airborne tomorrow. You
should take that stuff for your trip anyway. Get your immune system
    beefed up.

You will also be safe to go down and at least ask him if he's okay and
what he thinks the problem is. I understand that if he is still getting ill
why you might not want to do that. Just don't touch anything. And don't
touch your face until you've washed your hands very well. You will
probably want to Lysol the house down, too. If he's sick, he needs to be
quarantined to ONE bathroom and ONE sleeping area. None of that
    roaming around the house business.

Again, try to calm down. There are lots and lots of people who come into
DIRECT contact with V* and never get anything. If he's already sick, his
immune system is busy fighting a cold (or whatever is causing the runny
nose)... and it could be the cold itself.. or bad food... or acid reflux...
Relax. The anxiety is enough to make you feel sick all by yourself.Edited by: reese

i'm so sorry to hear that, i know it's hard! cats definitely cannot carry human germs as far as i know. i don't even think cats or dogs can spread sicknesses to other animals. is there a chance that your boyfriend ate something bad? or, like reese said, post nasal drips can make people very n*. i usually get a nasal drip once a year and it's made me very n*, my cousin gets them constantly and v*s most times. hopefully by now you've spoken to him. i think it will make you feel better to check on him and see how he's feeling. i hope everything works out. you will get through this! let us know how you are.
