sorry for my bad spelling! Last year on october the 10th (i wish my memory wasnt this good) i felt very sick and ending up with my head over the toilet at work. i went to the doctors to find out what was wrong and they said i had gastritis. i continued to feel sick for the rest of the month (i even went on holiday to ibiza feeling sick, that was the worst plane journey of my entire life!). so i went back to the doctors. they then tested me for stomach ulcers etc but it all came back negative. by this point it was near the end of November and i was still ill. i'd lost 1 and half stone and was looking very pale and ill. my sister had had something similar and she was given anti-biotics so i demanded them off the doctor. i took them for a week and it mostly cleared up the symptoms. though even today i still get bad stomach pains and bad wind pains. it turned out i had had glandular fever at this time. but the doctor said the stomach problems i had were not really symptoms of glandular fever. so she referred me to the specialist. i went to see him on monday. he said he was concerned that i was not putting the weight back on asked me how often i was sick. During this whole illness have not been sick once, touch wood (except for when i had the stomach flu two weeks ago) but that doesnt mean i don't think im going to be when i feel nausous.

anyway, my reason for writing this is that the specialist wants to do an endoscopy to find out whats wrong with my stomach. he said he also wants to do a biopsy of the lower bowls or something (thought it might not be there as he didnt mention anything being put up anything if you no what i mean). I'm PETRIFIED. i cannot do this. i asked him whether i could be sedated and he said i couldn't i asked him about retching and he said everyone who has this done retches. but what if im sick? im so worried about it, its made the problems with my stomach flare up again. i was just wondering if anyone here had had that done and could tell me what it was like, or reasure me maybe.

i had one done last january and i was sedated but although i was sedated i still remeber it ....

it isnt pleasent but it doesnt last long but you must insist on being sedated as i think it could make your phobia worse .... you wont be sick as your stomach is empty

i also had a biopsy done too and colonoscopy which is the one up the bum !!! not nice at all

if you ant to email me

I went with my mom a couple of weeks ago to have one. It really didn't
seem that bad. She said the worst part was having the diahrhea the day
before when you have to drink that stuff.

I had one done. I asked to be sedated, however, they say they cant. They put numbing spray at the back of your throat, then i dont remember anything after that. I do remember a little bit of the tube going done my throat, but then i went to sleep. So they do give you something to relax, but it was strong enough to knock me out.

When i woke up, i felt a little bit n*, how ever they gave me some antisickness tablets and i was fine. All my results were clear, however, i still get pain and turn a nice shade of yellow!! I had a bad liver, dont know why, cos i dont drink.

I had to go back to docs last week for more blood tests, so fingers crossed all is ok. But the endoscopy, was not as bad as i thought it would be.

    Hiya

My hubby has had this done twice- he has ulcers at 28 years old!!!!

You are not allowed to eat or drink so many hours before so your stomach is empty, so you won't bring anything up anyway. But my hubby had the throat spray but i don't know why you can't have sedation? Have they said why not?

Try not to worry about it (easier said than done i know) but hubby was in there for about 7 minutes - so it was a very quick procedure and you'll come out a stronger person i'm sure - good luck x
    Will this last forever????

I had one done and I just told them that I was scared and didn't want to remember ANYTHING, also that sometimes things that will knock others out won't hardly make me sleepy (which is true) ,so make SURE I get enough medicine so that I won't be aware of anything.Worked like a charm. Just tell them you are uncomfortable.
