I am really freaking out now because I think I have come in contact with an SV!

My friend and I do EVERYTHING together. Every morning at 8 we go to
work out at the gym together, and we also work in the same department
    at work.

I have a HUGE fear of eating with my hands. So, I always wash my hands
very thoroughly before I eat anything, and even so I NEVER touch my
    food with my bare hands.

Well, on Monday, one of our managers brought us some crackers
that he wanted us to try. So, he handed us each one with his bare
hand, and since it was on the spot, we both ate the crackers with our
bare hands. I only ate one, but it had been in my manager's hand, and
then mine. Same with my friend.

I didn't panic because I consoled myself by thinking "It's just this one little thing... the chances are low of getting an SV!"

However, yesterday my friend said she felt like she was coming down
with the flu because she was tired and her back ached. I sent her home
    from work.

Today, we came into work together as usual and she said her stomach
felt odd and she had a little d* in the morning, but was doing OK.
However, she said she was so tired she could hardly stand. So I sent
    her home again.

I called her tonight and she said that she has had d* all night. Every
time she drinks water or eats soup, it comes out 5 minutes later.

I am PANICKING because I wonder if we got it from our manager's hands
when he gave us the crackers?? The incubation period would be about
    right (~2 days?).

Even if it wasn't from his hands.. we do EVERYTHING together, so I
wonder if it's possible that I could contract the germ from her? She is
a regular handwasher, so I hope not! I've also been washing my hands
thoroughly as usual, so I've done my part to prevent it like always.

Anyways, I have an OVERNIGHT trip to Chicago on Monday, and I am
absolutely horrified that I'll get sick the day before or during the
trip!! I just want to cancel it immediately, and I'm scared that I'll
v* in addition do d* if I get sick! My friend is only d*, but depending
on the person you can also v* i'm sure!

I know there's nothing any of us can do except wait and see what
happens... but I just really needed to let all these thoughts out.

I'm sure you'll be fine, but if you need an emet to talk to while you're in Chicago, that's where I live!

I wondered if it was her period, too, but I asked her and she said no.

She does have a history of prolonged illness (she's had mono TWICE, and
then a really bad bladder infection last year), so she has a tendency
to d* and v* from things other than an sv*.

My manager wasn't sick at the time, but I was just worried he maybe had
germs on his hands just from touching random things like door handles
before he came and gave us the crackers. He wasn't sick yesterday,
though, so it's unlikely, I suppose.

Last I heard from her last night, she ate some ice cream which she
claimed was the only thing that hadn't made her go d* all day. Which is
odd considering it's icecream and I would have thought that it makes it
    worse...

Either way, I'm still hoping and praying that I'll be alright. Or that I get it and it's gone by Monday!

You should be fine. If she has had mono twice, then her immunity is so much weaker than yours. It takes years for an immune system to fully recover from having mono once. My husband has also had mono twice, he catches everything (no sv's so far* knock on wood*) and I never catch what he gets.

    Has your boss been sick?

Just to reassure you... I come into contact with the SV almost everyday while teaching. Kids are always sick with something and I know they are carrying things too --- I also know they don't always wash their hands. I send kids to the nurse for V* or severe stomach aches and just hope they DON'T come back! I know I'm constantly exposed, but that doesn't mean I'm going to get it.

The last time I had the SV, I didn't V* --- just hadconstant D* forabout a weekdays. I even went to the doc (when I had insurance) and she said I had a viral stomach bug. My college roommate/ best friend didn't catch it and we slept only feet away from each and we constantly hung out. She was fine and so were my suitemates (the 2 girls that shared we shared a bathroom with).
I\'m always a shade of purple...
