Thread: keeping well

    Hi all, I am new to this forum, and was very surprised someplace like this exists. I thought I was one of a very few that suffered from this phobia. I have been reading through some of the posts, and I can soooo identify with the feelings of the posters.
    The question: What do you all do to keep well? When I am feeling good enough to eat (which has been iffy lately) I take a multivitamin, garlic tabs for their antibacterial/immune support qualities, acidophilus (the liquid kind you find in the refrigerated section of the natural food store-you don't need to eat with this) and if I can remember, I take a packet of Emergen-C drink mix.I feel better and more able to fight the nasties if I stay on my daily regimen. Unfortunately, I have been going downhill lately, and having more trouble with this phobia than I ever have in my life, though I have had the phobia since childhood.

    daff- I have been doing a lot of reading on this subject. And if you are
    REALLY serious here are a couple of proven facts that will boost your
    immune system. This is serious commitment though...

    Eat at LEAST 5 servings of raw organic fruits and vegetables daily.
    Do not eat anything with artificial sweetners, colors, or preservatives
    Do not drink any type of soda- drink 8 glasses of water a day
    Cleanse your system
    Do not eat anything out of a can (it is full of preservatives and chemicals)
    Eat only organic foods
    the list goes on and on and this not only boosts your immune system, it
    should also help your mental health, BUT I don't think that is necessarily
    true with people that have severe issues.

    I've been reading the Kevin Trudeau book and this is just a small part of
    his book on how to boost your immune system, but he says if your body
    is healthy and free of toxins, you would never get any type of viral or
    bacterial illness because your body would always be able to fight it off. I
    saw a psycho-somatic medical doctor this week with big time credentials
    and he told me the same thing. Eat what comes from the earth. If you
    can't pronounce the ingredient, don't eat it.Edited by: lgood22573

    lgood...I wish I had that kind of strength, but darnnit, I really like pop! And I rarely buy fruit, and cannot afford organic foods.

    Wow! I AM interested. What is the name of the book? That would be a big shift for me. I am a vegetarian, and have been for 12 years, and try to eat organic when I can, but I also have a major sweet tooth. I am intrigued, though.

    Hi daffodil, welcome to the site.


    Just for info, I take garlic, a multi vitamin and minreal supplement that includes probiotics, eveing primrose oil and fish oil (last two for excema)then echinacea during the winter months to ward off colds and flu stuff.

    I try to eat a healthy diet. More whole foods than processed. I try to buy foods that are high in fiber and protein, organic fruits and veggies when I can. I also take a daily multivitamin and make sure I eat breakfast every day and drink a lot of water.


    Exercise helps too. And of course, practicing good hygeine.
