I agree. What gets me is the principal "mis-read" the manual. That's hysterical to me. How can a person mis read and confuse a walkout with a nuclear attack???

I read that story and I was appauled at how STUPID the principal was in handling the situation. It wasn't a physically threatening situation. The principal made a poor judgement call and I hope he gets removed from the school district. You don't "mis-read" a manual to that degree...
Another thing --- THIS WAS AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!! Walk-outs are really easy to control on this level because almost all of the students remain in the same classroom all day for all subjects (except for music, PE, and other elective courses). Why not just close the school to visitors and lock the main doors??? You could easily lock the students INSIDE OF THE SCHOOL without causing much drama.
Think about the trauma that some of the little kids experienced during this situation! Sanitary and privacy were majorly violated! Think about the little Pre-K and Kinder students and the puebecent students having to use the bathroom in front of others?!!? I mean... gawd! What on frickin' sanely Earth was this principal thinking?!!?
It is already all over the news that students don't know why they are really walking out of their schools to protest the immigration reform, but now it looks like they have reason to question why they are being placed on a nuclear style lock-down in their schools too!
Even during lock-downs at higher grade level schools are bathroom and other sanitary issues taken into consideration (escorts to and from bathrooms, etc..). Edited by: purpleteacher

ya - I actually fail to see any humour in it at all....it was just a terrible mistake imo.
