Emetophobia 0 thegooddr 1, now is that a good score line to see.
My son has a very bad chest infection at the moment and is taking
antibiotics for it which seem to have started to disagree with his
stomach today. My wife was feeding him this evening when suddenly
he just started to v*, and not just a mouthful, but quite a lot.
I was right next to him when he did it and I didn't panic, I was even
able to watch him do it without going into a panic attack. I then
proceded to get all the necessary bits together to clean it all up (am
so glad I replaced the carpet with wooden floor a few months ago) and
cleaned and sanitised the whole lot. I am so proud of myself and
feel that this is a real breakthrough for me as the one thing that had
put me off having children for so many years was my emet and the
knowledge that 'kids are always v*' - which I now know isn't
true. Will go to bed with a warm glow tonight.

It's surprising what us emets can deal with when it's our own kids! Well done you!

Iain, what does your son have? My 2 year old has had a horrid cough and runny nose for almost 2 weeks now. He's taken amoxicillin and now is on azithromycin, but it's his 3rd day of it and still no improvement. He's coughed so hard he gags. His dr. said if this med didn't work he would have to take something stronger that would upset his stomach. I'm so worried, I can't figure out what he has that is resistant to these antibioitcs.

Well done! You will have given hope to all those would-be emet mums and dads who worry they might not be able to cope. And it does get easier, slightly, as time goes on, so you've made a massive step in beating this. Great news, we're proud of you!

    Dear all,

Thanks for your kind words, I do feel good about this. I am not too sure how I will cope if it was a stranger doing it, but I try not to be in those situations anyway. I know when my wife was ill last month I just waded in there and helped mop up and disinfect so I know I can do it if I have to.

Falon, he is on Pinamox (Amoxicillin) 125mg 3 times a day. After he got sick last night he has not coughed at all since so it was if he had moved a lot of congestion of his chest , swallowed it and then bought it all back up again. Hopefully he is on the flip side of this now and is well on the way to recovery. Only thing is my wife is really suffering with it now and she will have to make a trip to the doctors now.
