Hey everyone. I've have depression for quite some time and decided to finally go to the doc about taking something even though i'm scared of meds! Anyway she gave me Wellbutrin XL. I've been taking it for a little over a week now...all bad side effects are gone. I've read a lot about it and i was wondering...has anyone been on this and it made them better? How long did it take to "kick in"?

    I took Paxil.

It took4 weeks to work in a positive way. You have to be patient with these types of drugs.

Well nevermind that! lol I broke out in a rash all over my body today and my doctor says i'm allergic to wellbutrin. Now i'm wondering if maybe i shouldnt try any other meds and just continue dealing on my own. I'm worried that the others will cause weight gain and sexual side effects and i will feel horrible trying to go off of them.

You never know until you try. You might find a med that helps you to feel better. It is a very personal choice, whether or not to do meds. But I will say that you will not necessarily have unwanted side effects from a med. It is a possibility, but not a given. Good luck in whatever you decide.
