I work part time in a restaurant (I'm a student at the moment) and always dread that someone will be sick while I am working...anyway, just thought I would share my story of what happened last week.

Basically, a kid at one of my tables threw up EVERYWHERE, it was horrible. BUT...I didn't freak out at all! I got them some disposable towels to clean it up and even a bag to put the kids top in (he'd been sick all down it - YEUCH!!) I even talked to them a little bit to try to make them feel better (the parents were very embarrassed I think). I asked if they thought he was sick from eating too much and got the dreaded answer 'Oh no, we were wondering why he wasn't eating much!' So he must have been ill....still I was ok. I didn't even worry too much about catching anything and as it was over a week ago now I think I should be safe!

Just thought I would share that with you all, I never thought I would be able to stay calm but I did!

    Hope everyone is well.

You did great!!! I'm proud of you. I'm not too sure I could have handled it at all. But sometimes when you least expect it, some inner strength comes to the surface and gets us through tought times.

I woulda legged it too! Or I would've stayed calm at the time but started shaking and salivating etc 5 minutes later once it was allover!!

Aargh you just reminded me of something that happened to me when i was working in a coffee shop in a shopping centre a couple of years ago..

My friend was serving these 3 rather posh ladies at one of the tables near our counter, and one of the ladies asked for a 'doggy bag'. I couldn't understand it though as she hadn't eaten and wasn't eating, she was only drinking a coke. * GRAPHIC BIT* Next thing you know, she leans down under the table, and starts v*ing into the bag. She didn't even leave the table or go to the bathroom around the corner!

The GROSSEST bit about it was that she then GAVE THE FULL BAG BACK TO MY FRIEND tothrow away.

It was actually pretty sad as it turned out as she told Alex that she had terminal cancer and wasn't going to make that Christmas. (It was Sept/Oct). She said it was the treatment making her ill. I was shaken by that all day as she was so young, pretty and full of life.. and all i was worried about was that she had V*ed at the table!!

Congrats! I remember 2 kids getting sick while I was waiting tables. One of parents cleaned up the mess when it happened once. The family said they had been out in the sun all day, so it was probably related to the heat. The other table got up and left all of their food, no tip, and it was a big party too! I told my boss he could clean it up or I would QUIT!! I told my boss I wasn't paid enough to clean up puke --- needless to say, my boss cleaned it up.

Ack, I would have panicked big style. Well done for not panicking and doing so well. And the thing is as you didn't didn't react badly to the incident this time it will give you the confidence to not worry so much about it happening again.

    Good job!
