i have just started taking luvox for my emetophobia and OCD but i am petrified of the side effects i may have. iveread that nausea/vomiting are quite common so ive halved the dosage im meant to betaking hoping that this will lessen the chances of having side effects. has anyone tried luvox before or know anything about it? this is my third night of taking it.

    Hi angeles,

I just want to reassure you that if you have read about nausea/vomiting as "side effects" of this medication that ONLY means that someone in the testing group had this happen and I can guarantee you it WAS NOT an emetophobic. Over all the years I've been here, and the THOUSANDS of people on this site AND other research I've done AND clients I've had, I have NEVER heard of an emetophobic vomit from an anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medication. (And please don't anyone contradict that just to be silly).

So please don't worry - and I do understand that it is a worry.

ALSO I would give you a strong warning NOT to half the dosage. It will not work that way, and you may feel mildly "funny" from the drug which will INCREASE your anxiety and you aren't taking it as prescribed so it won't actually HELP your anxiety.

DO talk to your doctor about what you've done so he or she knows a) you're only getting a half-dose and b) - more importantly - s/he'll know just HOW scared you are. Perhaps s/he can prescribe a tranquilizer for a couple of weeks just to get you through the stage where you will feel "funny" from this drug. AGAIN, PLEASE NOTE THAT "FUNNY"/DIZZY/WHATEVER will NOT lead to vomiting!!!!!

Take care, and I hope you talk to your doctor and take the meds as prescribed. They will probably help you a lot!
