My son has me in a bit of a panic. He was playing his computer game, when he just gets up and goes to the couch, crying and screaming in pain. His head was hurting. I got him up and took him to his room and made him lay down on his bed where it was quiet and dimly lit. He closed his eyes and calmed down. After about 15 mins. he said he felt better and sat up to pet our family cat that was sitting in my lap. Then he burped and he had that look on his face (or maybe he didnt bu my anxiety was getting the better of me) and I asked him if he felt like throwing up and he said I dont know. I told him to go to the bathroom as I bolted out of his room. (I know, bad mom, huh?) I had my 5 sec freak out in the den and went back to check on him. Still no V* He stayed in front of the toilet for atleast 10 mins. He says his head feels better now and that he doesnt feel like throw up anymore, but I am still freaked. I have learned through parenthood that nothing is by the book ........ know what I mean. Things can change so suddenly. I dont know if this is the start of something or a combo of getting a headache from playing the computer game and crying so hard or what. I hate this, I am stressed enough as it is, this is making things worse, and of course, this all happens on a night when hubby is at work!

Just a bit of an update, he said he felt sick a few more times, but nothing ever happened. He is asleep in his bed now, so we shall see. Can crying really hard make you feel like v'ing ........... and continue to make you feel like that for a while after you stop?

This whole time of year freaks me out. My youngest daughter teacher was out today, sick, with God knows what. Then, a little boy in her class v'd during nap time. My daughter said it was just a little bit and that he was coughing when he did it, and that he was coughing before nap time, so who knows whats going on there.

Oh wow.. I'm sorry that your son isn't feeling himself. Hopefully whatever the problem is he is able to just sleep it off and feel better in the morning.

I know it's hard, but try to not think much about the teacher being absent and the kid getting sick in class. He probably just gagged from coughing. I know this is much easier said than done. I always ask my daughter 'why' when she has a substitute.

You are a good mom- everything will be okay. Just hang in there and remember to breathe

    Hey there-

With your son, I wouldn't worry about the headache unless it is something that occurs on more than one occasion. I used to get really bad headaches as a kid.....from playing Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega because his character moved around on the screen too much! Has he had a vision test lately? When I was a teenager the headaches came back, and it turned out I was farsighted and reading was putting too much of a strain on my eyes.

PS- crying CAN make you vomit.....I rarely cry, but when I do it's a lot, and I always have a bad headache and feel very nauseous afterwards. For the life of me, I don't understand people who cry frequently- do they not feel like ass afterwards too?

I would also, for your sake, stop asking your daughter why her teacher wouldn't be in school- focusmore on what she did that day with the sub as opposed to "well, she must have been sick with ___". Teachers are human like the rest of us- and sometimes have commitments which mean that they have to take a day off now and again (even for mental health purposes). That, and her being sick does not necessarily compute to a bug going around, or your kids being sick.....teachers spend more time outside of the classroom than in If you let your mind "go there", nothing positive is going to result- it's a lose lose situation.

Hope your son feels better in the morning

My daughter used to throw up all the time after a big sob! And I'm like Amber, I rarely cry but when I do it makes me feel terrible!

Hope things resolve themselves. Kids rarely hang about on the v* front, if they feel it, it happens. If he hasn't by now then I'm sure things are going to be OK.

It could have been a migraine. Even when my head stops hurting I still can feel sick. Also, children can get "tummy migraines" which effects mostly their stomachs. I hope it doesn't happen again!

Well, my son slept all night without any problems and was fine this morning when he got up. He ate a good breakfast and is at school.
Oh, and I wanted to mention that I didnt ask my daughter why her teacher wasnt at school. She just told me that on the way home from school yesterday, and about the little boy v'ing during nap time. I used to ask my children all the time if someone was sick in their class ect ..... but I dont do that too often anymore. My oldest usually wont say anything about someone being sick in her class, but the little ones usually just volunteer that info.

Hi Leigh - My first thought was a migraine which has all the symptoms you described. It is possible that the computer brought it on or that something else triggered it (bright lights trigger migraines in a male friend of mine.)

I have also heard that migraines can occur in young kids and that they eventually outgrow them - this was the case with my nephew. Headaches in general can make me a little nauseous.

Hope your son is fine - my kids are freaking me out a little lately too. The tough part with kids is that you have to play a guessing game as to what (if anything) is wrong with them. Sigh.....
