For those that know I recently had a wisdom tooth out, my upper left one to be exact.

Now I was scared as hell before, not only had I not had a tooth out, but I was afraid I would swallow alot of blood and be s*.

Needless to say, apart from a little discomfort that required no more than 1 dose of paracetamol (1 dose regular Tylenol for the US guys). I was fine. (Although it is currently infected which is very painful and is apparently pretty rare in what was an easy extraction.)

Anyway on to now, im due to have my lower left wisdom tooth out next. Im now scared again, I hear these are harder to take out and im scared ill bleed more this time and I will actually be s*

I guess I just need reassurance Ill be fine, im gonna be concious (as I was last time), no IV or anything, just the numbing injection.

Argh, I just want to know I wont be s*

I definitely understand what you're going through...I can't even stand to go to the dentist's for a cleaning because I'm so afraid of having my mouth open wide with his face right there.

Every time I have to go I work myself up into a frenzy, and then am laughing and joking with the dentist the entire time. I think it's just something we have to expect--the anxiety beforehand and the ability to handle it during.

You'll be ABSOLUTELY FINE. It takes a LOT of blood to actually make you s*, and you'll know that you're swallowing too much blood ahead of time. My friend just had her teeth out and did completely fine with it--not too much bleeding and whatnot. I hope that it goes well, but I know that you'll be fine. The waiting and anticipation are the worst. Take some deep breaths and think of all us emets who're going through the same things with you

My dentist is really good in terms of my anxiety etc... Last time he asked if I was in pain and I told him I was because of the joke he was telling me whilst pulling my tooth.

I think secretly I know ill be fine, but the reassurance helps no end! As im sure you know!

    Bu thank you!

    Hi phoenix,

You will definately be fine and not get s*!! Ive had all four of mine out, and one needed to be cut out cos it was impacted. There was a bit of blood and I needed 3 sets of stitches, but I had absolutely no n* or anything. And cos of the stitches (which i pulled out with my toothbrush by mistake...DOH!! There was more blood over the next few days, but there still wasnt any n* or v*.I was absolutely fine! I didnt think I would be, but I honestly was. I was terrified before I went in, but my dentist is great, and hes so kind and understanding. Its just the build up!! I always come out thinking, 'well what was all that fuss about!!' lol. I always think 'well next time I wont let myself get so wound up'!! But I always do!!! lol.

I had the other 3 taken out in one go last month, and again, no n* or anything at all, even though I was proper scared. You can ask for sedation if you think that would help?? I had it before, and it made me so happy and chilled out, I couldve fallen asleep in the chair!! I couldnt care less what was going on im my mouth!! ha ha.

Its so so uncommon to get ill from it (i asked my dentist and did my research) lol. You really will be totally fine, you will probably feel so silly you got so anxious about it when you come out!!

So let us know how it goes hun xx

After last time I was just like 'I dont get what all the fuss was about' I mean I mustve swallowed blood over night and stuff, but I was fine.

Although Anxious, I dont fear having the tooth out, though I can say if I get a dry socket in this one im going to kill someone, the pain is excrutiatng and nothing helps other than praying to the tooth god that the pain subsides, even for a second.

its just my emetophobic mind preying on on my poor usually logical brain to make me panic about being s*

Well 2 days till judgement day anyway, so I will keep you updated.

Thank so much for your re-assurance, its nice to know people care so much, no one knows what is like to have this fear than one of us!

    Take care guys.

I had all 4 impacted wisdom teeth out at the same time and I was fine. You probably won't swallow much blood at all because the dentist uses that strawlike saliva sucker upper (I don't know the name of that contraption). They try to keep the area clean and dry.
