dad antibiotic twice! :(

i am already anxious and now im getting really flipped out my dad just took his antibiotic twice by accident!! now im really scared hes gonna v* and it was a big pill! ahhh

Calm down. Antibiotics very rarely make someone v*. They also come in different strengths. When I had a dental abcess several months ago I had 500mg then 3 wks ago when I had to take antibiotics again it was half the strength at 250mg. Plus when my daughter was seriously ill in hospital with pneumonia she was on a combination of 3 very strong antibiotics through an IV for several weeks and was fine. Just make sure your dad doesnt take his next dose then take it as scheduled from then on.

It's funny, when I first started taking BC pills a decade ago, I was like "Why do we need them all marked for days? Who can't keep track of taking a pill?" I can't tell you how many times I couldn't remember if I took it or not, and would have missed it or taken two if I didn't have the days marked. Once it became routine my brain stopped making mental note of it.
I'm sure your dad will be fine. Antibiotic dosing ranges tremendously. I was prescribed Augmentin at a dose twice that that my husband was on, and he outweighs me by 100 lbs! (I did get a superinfection from it, but it was a way more complicated situation than doubling up once by accident!!) Maybe you can get your dad a pill case to keep track of his antibiotics?
