Default A cool story about myself, and also hypnotherapy?

This is my first time back on this site since I was in 7th grade probably - I'm about to graduate high school now haha.

Anyways, a few weeks back I met the guys from MTV's show 'The Buried Life' at a local college on their speaking tour. I was able to tell them, in front of a very large crowd, what I wanted to do before I die - overcome my phobia of v*. I was later able to meet them and tell them more info about my phobia and they were very encouraging and inspirational and now I'm doing everything in my power to overcome this terrible phobia.

So I went to the hypnotherapist. First session I was taught a technique called EFT, which was tapping myself and saying things like "Even though I have this v* phobia, I still love myself." This technique didn't work at all.

At my next session, I was hypnotized. After it was over, the my hypnotherapist said that it was very possible I wouldn't need to go to another session, so I didn't schedule a new one. The hypnotism didn't work either, I have the same feelings toward my phobia as before.

Now I don't know what to do. Any input? My mind is so stubborn it doesn't want to be helped even though I am soooo ready and willing to get rid of this phobia!

(PS just for the record I don't fear myself getting s*, only other people.)

So you've had this for many many years and you believe one session of hypnotherapy will cure you? This is really ingrained in your brain. I believe it will take a good long while of active work to get rid of it, which isn't easy, especially due to how hard it is to find a therapist who doesn't suck.

It's not that I thought that I would be cured after 2 sessions... I was expecting some sort of improvement, however, which I haven't felt any whatsoever. I'm just wondering if it is worth the time and effort going to this hypnotherapist. I feel like I would have got the same results from someone just talking to me with my eyes closed.

If you haven't noticed any change in two sessions you should either try a different therapist or a different technique altogether. I had 3 sessions and it took me from my lowest low (agorophobia) to being able to see it on TV and do it with no problem.

I've always been a little hesitatnt to try hypnotherapy. It definately works for some people but I'm just not sure if it would for me. And I LOVEEE The Buried Life! That's so cool that you got to meet them! I wish they would come to my town, I'd totally go hear them speak!

Thank you! This is very helpful! I think I might try another therapist then.

I thought it would have worked considering I've heard a lot of success stories from it! I'm glad that I can at least say I've tried it now regardless if it ends up working or not.

And yes you have to try to see them sometime! They are the nicest, most genuine people ever! So inspirational! I actually just got an email from Jonnie which is awesome cause its like ahhh they still care about me! I can't wait to tell them I got over this (hopefully in the near future!)
