SV* or FP* ?! sooo scared :'(

Sorry if I'm a little frantic right now, but I'm so done with s* ppl! If anyone read my last post, then you know I just got home from a school trip to socal (8 hour bus ride!) with TWO kids sick with a sv*, and then someone else got it!! It's been about four days since, so I'd like to think I'm out of te woods, but of course something else comes up! My bf's friend came down s* on Sunday night, v* twice, after spending the day with me and my bf. He was ok Monday, and then was v* allllll last night ! I've been asking him about all of his symptoms, he can't keep ANYTHING down, not even water, he has horrible heartburn, and keeps getting hot and cold. I'm freaking out, I'm going in for my first day of work in a few hours and I'm afraid I'm doomed he had no symptoms when we saw him, but he used the bathroom so I'm worried. What do you guys think it could be? Thank you

Whatever it is, it will pass. Try to calm down. These stomach afflictions don't usually last very long.

Since he wasn't showing symptoms when he was with you, it's highly unlikely for you to catch it. As long as you wash your hands thoroughly before eating, you should be fine! It's impossible to tell whether or not it's a bug; but I'd treat it as one and be extra cautious. I'm sure you'll be okay! You haven't been around him while he's v-ing, and I'm sure you wash your hands. There's no reason for why you should catch it!

It's true I haven't been around him since he first showed symptoms, but I wasn't being as careful before since it's summer and I'm working on not being so OCD about hand washing :/ we both ate out of the same pack of licorice ...

That sounds such a stressful and horrible trip; I'm so sorry it was spoiled for you. I really think you'll be all right - you were diligent with your hygiene and that's really all you need to do. Not everyone on that trip will come down with it, by any means - it's a minority that has been ill. Try not to worry. I know how stressful it is but you've avoided it thus far and are no longer in the same vicinity as the ill people. I really don't think you'll get it xxx

You will definitely be in the clear by then. I mean, I think you are in the clear now, but you will know beyond all doubt by then that you are safe!

Even if it was a stomach bug, he's not really contagious after 48 hours. He's not contagious before he starts showing symptoms, so you don't have to worry about spending time with him before he got sick. Also if you had been exposed, the absolute max amount of time between exposure and illness is 48 hours. So after that, you're 100% in the clear.

It could well be severe anxiety. I bet you've been super stressed about this for a good couple of days now, AND you had a long coach journey today which can make me feel a bit blah for the rest of the day at times. Try to relax and keep calm. You will be all right!

Ugh I've just had this feeling all day that something bad will happen, but again that's just my anxiety. Thank you so much for the support

I know what you mean - that foreboding feeling! Definitely a result of anxiety I think. I am just sorry that your holiday was spoiled by the whole worry of illness; it seems unfair. This is your time to celebrate etc! But the party on Saturday will be fun and all your classmates will be healthy by then. And you will still be healthy too.
