    Default tummy bug

would like advice from anyone reading this. My daughter is 7 and has gone to stay with her dad for a couple of weeks (we broke up but still amicable and have shared access of her). He has a new partner and 3 kids. The other week they rang me up to say my daughter had been sick and was a one off, putting it down to overeating. Then a few days later, she had diarreer and again, put that down as a one off, saying she had been taken swimming in the sea and maybe got a bit of a chill. None of the others had these symptoms. But,, Tuesday had another phonecall saying my daughter had caught a stomach bug, was constantly sick, diarreer, temperature, headache, spending most of the day and night sleeping it off, only waking to throw up! she is better now, infact, was back to usual self the next day but now her step mum has got it, she got it yesterday (Thursday). As of yet they havent mentioned anyone else in the household getting it altho time will tell. My daughter is due to come back to me on Monday and as much as i cant wait to be with her again, am soo v worried if she is still contagious esp as it is going round in her dads household. Can anyone offer me any advice on this. Thanks in advance

Aw, poor thing, tummy bugs are awful! When she comes home to you, all you have to do is make sure you keep yourself, her and your home clean. Both of you should wash your hands before preparing food, or eating food, keep your hands away from your face, and make sure bathrooms are wiped down regularly. You can use a little bleach in a lot of water to wipe things down with if that makes you feel calmer. I'm glad she's feeling better now, and I'm sure that if you keep yourself protected, you'll be absolutely fine!

I'm sorry your daughter isn't well! Erin is right though, just stay clean and everything should be fine. Don't let her prepare any food for you (although she is seven so I'd assume that's a small possibility anyway :P) and wash your hands before eating. Make sure that she washes her hands after using the toilet, as that is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of a stomach bug!
PM me for contact info such as skype, email, or facebook. Thanks!

Do some research on the "stomach bug." It'll prove to be invaluable for your anxiety related to it.

Hi, hope everything ended up ok, i know how scary it is when a family memeber gets sick!
just for the record, if your daughter had recovered from the bug before she came back to stay with you, then she would no longer be contaigous. but just to be safe, it would still be a good idea to do the usual- practise good hygeine, don't let her prepare food, serve plain healthy food.

thank you to those of you who replied to my post. Is really reassuring to know so many others really do understand us and know our worries and fears when the rest of the world seems to think we are mental!
