I don't think its necessary to v*. I got ill last year and my husband did within hours of me. I didn't v* even though i came close, but i did have d* around 10 hours after i started feeling ill. By this point i was feeling less n* though and just wiped out. My husband did v* a few times over about 5 hours after he started feeling ill. By the next day were both almost fine again just a bit tired and run down. I don't think it's harmful not to v*, but i suppose it may just prolong the n* in some cases.

No, it's not necessary because you are not getting rid of the virus by doing this. You are just reacting to it. I believe your stomach stops digesting and that's what causes the nausea. So whatever is in your stomach is just kind of sitting around and it makes you nauseous. I recommend anti-emetic suppositories for the nausea.

No, it won't harm you to keep yourself from vomiting if you have a stomach virus. Most people get over it more quickly if they do. However, emets have made the choice that we'd rather endure hours of nausea than vomit once. For us, it's a happy choice.

Please read my Vomiting FAQ to learn more about keeping from vomiting when you feel nauseated: http://emetophobia.byethost15.com/vomiting.html Doug

I`ve read on other websites written by doctors that it`s not necessary to v to get rid of the virus, but a lot of people still think that you must to get better. I don`t care which is true, I would still not allow myself to v if I caught a virus, & would take tons of anti-emets if that`s what it would take to prevent it.

The only thing vomitting does is gets rids of the nausea. Other than that, it is not necessary.
