    Default Laxative problem

I've been really constipated lately. I usually am before I start my period. But yesterday I was feeling really horrible. Even drinking stuff was making me feel overfilled. So I made some coffee and took 2 women's laxatives. Last night around 3am my stomach was cramping and having spasms. Today it's hurting really bad again and it's making me nauseated. I'm trying to cook for thanksgiving but these cramps are keeping me down. What can I do? Is it gonna make me v*?

That's how laxatives make me feel...very nauseous and crampy. Once it works, I bet you will feel much better. You can try a hot bath or heating pad to calm the cramps.

Thanks. I been using my heating pad. I feel like I need to get to the bathroom soon but hardly anything comes out. I always tell myself I'm never taking them again but when I get bad I take them and this is my result. Then to top it off my son suddenly V* a little so now I feel worse.

It depends what kind of laxative you took, some cause cramping as a way to move stuff along the intestines but that won't help much if everything there is hard and blocking the way. And being really backed up can cause nausea and make it difficult even to drink. Perhaps you could try a different kind of laxative that relies of bringing water into your intestines instead of causing cramps? PEG powder works really nicely for that.

My kids both struggle with constipation, and Miralax helps them without causing the terrible pain and nausea that laxatives often bring. You can mix some in any drink. We start with 1 teaspoon a day and move it to 2 sometimes. Hope you are feeling better and that your son is ok.

My son seems ok. He asked me to make him eggs and sausage, but I told him he had to eat a few crackers first and wait. He did and was fine so far. As for me I'm on the toilet every 30 minutes with cramps from hell. I took 2 correctol. I have miralax but I know it takes a couple of days for it to work on me with a capful. I just wanted to go because I was so uncomfortable. Now I'm worse. This is so horrible. I even took a Bentyl for the cramps and it calmed the spasms in my stomach but not my intestines. I'm throwing those things away.

I'm ok right now but I've been keeping myself overly medicated to calm me down. I fell asleep around 7 and woke up at 8. I felt ok so I decided to eat. I could barely eat because I was afraid it was going to make me sick. So I ate a small portion really slow. I got up to put my plate away and thought some pumpkin pie sounded good so I ate a big piece and then a small one. Headed back to bed but as soon as I got to bed I had to rush to the bathroom. I was in there for awhile. My stomach is really sore. I can barely drink anything cuz everything I intake needs to come out soon. At least I don't have the constipation bloat/fullness anymore. But I think I'd rather feel full than have these cramps. I hope I'm better by morning. I'd like to catch a couple of sales to see if anything is left I was going to go tonight but I can barely get out of bed. I have to be near a bathroom. I'm at the point where I can't trust passing gas it's sad and embarrassing.

I actually prefer magnesium citrate to laxatives. It draws water into the intestines. It pretty much liquifies whatever is in there, it took 3 hours to work, I went to the bathroom like 4 times, it was watery, but I didn't cramp, have gas or even have an urgency to go. It tastes kind of funky, but half the bottle did the trick for me after not going for 6 days. Hope you are back to normal now.

I finally recovered from it yesterday. I only had one emergency. I was pretty hungry and ate too much pumpkin pie and turkey, gravy and toast. But I felt fine. I did snack in the middle of the night. I was really hot all night and sweating. I woke up okay and went to Walmart because I'm gonna be without a car till Wednesday. I was fine through the whole store. When it was check out time. I started getting extremely sweaty and started to panic and felt nauseated. When just a few minutes before I felt hungry. I still feel hot. But I don't have a fever. My period is suppose to start Tuesday. So maybe it's that. I hope it's that. I'm in bad shape again.

It could be your period, or your runaway anxiety getting the better of you. When my anxiety is high, I will go in streaks like that where I'm hungry, then feel sick, then hungry, and back and forth. Just try to stay distracted.

I try to be busy with what I can. But this funky tummy is keeping me down. I don't know what's going on. I do feel it may be hormonal issues since I'm gonna start soon. I've already taken a kolonopin for my anxiety but it didn't help my stomach. All it did was make me slow and tired. Still nauseated. So I took a Dramamine but it hasn't done anything yet.

this is all such a viscious circle....we take meds for anxiety....which cause constipation.....constipation causes n....ughhh....try and make sure to eat lots of fiber rich foods and drink plenty of liquids....if you can throw in a little exercise ...like a walk everyday it might help with the constipation....

If I`m concerned about my bowels being too slow, I get something called Lactulose. It`s very sweet & can cause gas, but it`s very effective & won`t cause diorrhea unless you take too much.
