    Unhappy Wierd new fear..

I have gone to change my daughters sheets twice now but am finding it reeeeally hard because it feels like when I do, she'll get ill. I know I have to do it but my husband is away...... : (

I thought I was the only person with this issue! It's so bizarre right? I try and rationalise it by telling myself that after I've slept in the bed after the first night of having the fresh sheets on, I tend to forget about this irrational fear.

Don't worry too much Mamafear because your daughter will be absolutely fine

It never worried me until three days ago and I didn't even know it was going to happen, I turned up at the bed with sheets, cases and a heavier blanket and I couldn't do it, so I put the blanket on, and hoped it might pass, and feel right the next day but apparently my mind has, well, a mind of it's own. Aaargh!

Wow this place makes you feel better!. Skittles, thanks for asking, I'm doing okay. I've really managed to work myself up is all. Our older daughter got got sv 3 times in short space of time last year and then son got an sv and then last month daughter got sik every 3 days. It just feels like this is just what it's going to be like now. I can't help expecting someone is going to V* almost every hour of the day, but with 6 in the house and four of them out there every day with their non-emetness, coming home each night to our tiny house that you simply can't escape a s* person in... as you can see, I work myself up!. How are you today? I missed your post the other and only read it too late. Are you okay!

I can understand that fear, we emets so often create rituals to make us feel safer Especially hard cuz you seem like you've been really hard hit with sv's, I totally can imagine how freaked out I would be!!!

However, that being said- fight it! Maybe start yourself off slow- wash her pillowcase or something. But don't give in, or you'll have created a new fear and a new ritual that needs to be done because your emet demands it!

Developing superstitions is part of this phobia. I had to throw out the brand new t-shirt I was wearing the last time I vomited because I was scared that if I wore it, I'd get sick again.

Mamafear, I am the SAME WAY. I swear I have even posted about it before! It's like I am afraid to jinx myself, even though I don't really believe in stuff like that. I agree with HEH... Start with pillowcases. My daugter's are actually in the dryer right now I don't think it's a new fear, really. Just a compulsion related to the existing one. At least it is for me... It all boils down to damn emet. Argh.

It's funny, I know it's not true, I truely know it's being ridiculous but I'm so scared that IT will happen and make it true. The problem is, the last four times I've said a certain set of words pertaining to how un-sick everyone living here has been lately, every one of those times, someone has V*. Chris, that t-shirt thing, I SO get it! I hate every object in our house that had anything to do with IT. I have just started dressing the kids in old stuff when they're unwell so I can get rid of any soiled stuff without touching IT and that just happens to be a handy bonus. ; )

Chris_alice I'm the same way with clothing!!! Today my mom and I were cleaning my room and I found a pair of pajamas my grandma had bought me for Christmas in 2011, I only wore them one time but it was the night i got an sv* right after New Years 2012 and I v*d twice whilst wearing them! Perfectly cute, comfy pj's that I can't bring myself to wear! I kept them though hoping that as I get better with my phobia I can challenge myself to wear them!

OMG! So weird about the shirt comment! LOL! I v* once in the 4th grade and I can tell you to this day what shirt I had on LOL! It was dark purple with long sleeves and either silver or white hollow hearts all over it. After that I remember never wearing that shirt again bc I feared I would get sick again and I remember feeling so guilty bc my favorite aunt bought it as a gift for me. I was actually just thinking about that the other day and I bet that I would be the same way if I got sick now! Isn't it amazing how much the emet does to our minds?! I pray I can over come this evil thing one day and put it in it's place!!!
