Default Panic attack over son with stomach flu

I have a 3 year old and a 9 month old. I have been terrified of vomiting for as long as I can remember but it became an obsession after I had kids. Well, my 3 year old has the flu...the first time. When he gets sick, I clean it up and comfort him. It's the after part that is killing me. The worrying: when will he throw up again? where will he throw up? can I ask my mother-in-law to watch my 9 month old or should I suck it up because a mom should be able to handle it? why does this happen when my husband is attached to a tractor for the week?

He hasn't thrown up in 1.5 hours.

That's great that he hasn't been sick in quite a bit! Whatever would help you to calm down is what you should do. Would just having one child home help or would it be helpful to ask your mother in law to just come and be there for emotional support? In the meantime, put on a movie that everyone likes and remember that in a few days this will be far behind you. Little kids with sickness is such a drag, but they also recover fast, hopefully he's done with it and so are you!!!

Thank you so much for the pep talk! I tried to call my mother-in-law but couldn't get in touch with her. Instead, when Ben was sleeping I called my husband and we chatted while he was in the tractor. Made me feel not so alone.

So glad! You made it through, yay! Are you feeling better today? Is he back to normal? Now you can relax a bit and look forward to summer!!! It's 80 degrees and sunny here today, hope it's bright and cheerful where you are - maybe you can get out into the sunshine a bit? That always helps me loads.

He's much better today! No fever and getting his appetite back little by little. 80 degrees here too so I've been getting some sun as much as I can. Amazing how quickly a sunny day can lift your mood!

My kids had the stomach flu last November and my husband and I caught it too (but I made it through without V*), and I know exactly what you mean about the worrying/waiting. The sun also helps my moods a ton, and getting out of the house, living my life. My anxiety gets out of control when I stay home more, I just start worrying and it's a vicious cycle because than I'm too afraid to go anywhere, so I stay home, thus feeding my anxiety.

Hey there! I'm a little late to offer support but am glad you got through it without any more 'events'. You've come to a good place forr support. X
