Default Advice needed-question about going away?

    Hey guys

I haven't been on here in quite a while, my emet has really been getting better and I haven't felt the need to come on here to calm myself down as much at all so WOO for that, but I couldn't think of where else to come with this question.

On Saturday I'm going away with my best friend to Ireland to stay with her Aunt and cousins for 5 days. I'm really excited, but I'm also worried that I'm going to (of course) get sick OR have a panic attack and really not feel comfortable eating the food that she prepares. Of course I know there's going to be nothing wrong with it because she's got kids herself and my friend stays there all the time so I know it's not logical, but I'm really scared of seeming rude and refusing food because I'm panicking about feeling nauseous and don't want to eat anything just in case it gets worse, you know? All it is is that I don't want to have to refuse the food and seem really ungrateful for her having me stay with her, having never met her before (I'm a teenager btw).

I just really really want to enjoy the trip and at the moment this is all that's in my head, so any advice or similar past experiences anyone can share would be very very gratefully received,

    Thank you so much,

    Naomi

My advice is this: If you feel the need to refuse food then do so politely and just tell her "oh thank you so much, but the flight was so long I'm just a little queasy right now" or "this time change is killing me. I'm just not hungry right now, but thank you so much". Something believable. If it continues, then let her know about your phobia. I tell people all the time when I travel. One thing that everyone understands is fear. We all fear something. They may not understand your particular fear, but they can relate to the feeling. Imagine someone being terrified of mice and thinking that there might be a mouse in the kitchen. Do you think they'd eat anything out of that house? No way!!! Especially if you tell her that you have a phobia of v* and your stomach is a little upset, but as soon as you feel better you'd love to have some of the food. She will understand. She has kids. She knows
By the way... I am SO jealous that you get to go to Ireland!!! I have always wanted to go there! You are so lucky! Enjoy your vacation and just remember that you have the experience of a lifetime ahead of you and even though there is always the possibility of v* or d* that nothing would be worse than mentally ruining your vacation by freaking yourself out Just relax and enjoy all those sexy accents!!! Have fun!!!
