One thing I have noticed about this phobia is that if I sit in the house and obsess about it; it makes it worse, so I get out of the house and go do things. Whatever it may be. Hanging out with other people is good too. Or watching TV, talking on the phone, reading magazines or reading anything, talking to my hubby, play with the dog or cats, etc. The best thing is to get out of the house and away from the familiar environment.
