Today was my mums birthday. She organised a big party to celebrate her recovery from breast cancer and to raise money for our hospital. Everything was going really well. My children were having a lovely time and being really good. There were lots of activities from plate spinning to outdoor space hopper races organised by our local sports centre. Then there was a live band and a big raffle in the evening. Not to mention the candy floss machines, popcorn and chocolate fountain.

There were lots of people, but for some reason I was very calm. Then, my nephew went very quiet and v*d all over my sister and the floor. I was right by him with my son. I felt myself start to shake, but somehow I managed to pull myself together. I walked outside and took a few deep breaths before going back inside. I even went to find my sister to see if she wanted to borrow my sons spare set of clothes for my nephew, but luckily she was already on her way to take him home. It really had been a great day, but now I am worrying as my son had been holding my nephews hand just minutes before. I am really hoping he just over ate on rich party foods( I limited my children!). I really don't need my children to catch anything. We are supposed to be going away for a couple of days on Wednesday. I don't want to go now.

Couple of questions: Was this at your house? How old is your nephew?

Also, I am so sorry this happened and you had to see it! Maybe it was just the excitement of the people, food, and stuff. If he ate alot and was running around and playing alot, thaat may very well have caused him to v*.

Do you know how he is doing now?

Oh no. That sounds awful. You handled it very well, though.
Chances are, it was all the rich foods. If it was a sv, as long as you washed, which I'm sure you did, your chances of catching it, or your kids catching it are minimal.

Awww sorry this happend, but it really could be all the food and if they were running and playing around, also maybe the foods he ate could have been to rich for his stomach to handle. I remember when i was a lot younger i used to sometimes feel n* at partys and sometimes i did v*, so it could have well been that, hope your feeling ok now, try and stay calm, take care.

I agree with the others - it sounds like a combination of excitement and too much rich food. ( Hey, with a chocolate fountain, I'd probably overdo it!) You know what children are like. They eat sensibly at home, then there's a party & lots of party food, they go a bit crazy, and......whoops! I don't think you've got anything to worry about. Enjoy your few days away.

It would have been through eating toomuch stodgy and sweet food and running about all excitedly,I bet. I must have been awful for you to see, I would have panicked too.

I want to say how terrific it is to hear your mum has recoverred from breast cancer, you must all be so relieved and feel top of the world!

Oh no how awful for you. I think you handled the whole thing really really well, especially to think of things like spare clothes in a situation like that. I agree with everyone else though, party food often has a bad effect on kids, especially with all the excitement and running around, i really don't think you'll catch anything. It's good to hear that your mum is better though, i hope she enjoyed her day.

Thankyou everyone. Well luckily my nephew is fine today. It looks like he just ate too many chocolate cakes. He is only just 2 and it was just too much for his little tummy. I feel much calmer now.

My mum had a lovely day. She enjoyed every minute of her party. She alsoraised £600 for our hospital's cancer unit, so that was good. Thgankyou once again everyone for you replies.

Hi Curly, I feel the same as the others. I get really Paranoid at parties where there is a lot of foods, that my kids will eat too much. Experts say that kids know when to stop but I am not so sure. Everyone thinks I am crazy when I am always telling them no more to eat. You handled it very well, good for you!</font>
