Hi, I am new here and have been trying to log on here since Aug 06. Figured out the poblem and now I am here.

My name is Melissa, I am 28, live in Portland, Or USA. I am a wife to Rob, mom to Chandler (born March 25, 05). I work from home for the family business that my mom runs. My sister and hubby work for the company too. We work in the Natural/Organic food industry.

I just now found that my fear of vommiting actually had a name. My dad passed away in April 06 and my emit got a lot worse. I was having panic attacks all the time, so my dr. put me on Zoloft, and Phenergan (when I need it). I also got Xanax which is a great little pill. Any hints to quelling the nausea will be great.

Thanks for letting me join the group!

Thanks. I know...The fear of dying was/is huge. I am more scared to loose my mom now...She's my rock (ok, so is DH (hubby).

    Hi Waker,

Welcome to the group. I was an emet before my mom died. But, unlike a lot of emets, I don't think it became a problem until I was about 31 - I'm 38 now.

My mom died Nov. 3rd, 2003 from lung cancer. I had emet issues before that & sought counceling w/o any luck. They didn't believe in meds & had no interest in talking about this as a phobia. Wish I had tried something different. Anyway, I think my emet was actually better while my mom was going through her battle. My emet wasn't even too bad that winter after she died. I think maybe because I was depressed and not really paying attention to my kids & hubby. Since then, it has gotten progressively worse. Much worse than it ever had been.

In August I started meds & a new therapist. That has made a wonderful difference. I think, now that I read your post, what made my emet come back with full force was that my dad was having pretty severe health problems. The thought of losing him makes me almost instantly ill sometimes.

Awww . . . makes me glad to have a therapist!

Anyway, glad you're here & hope this site helps you as much as it has me.
