The other day when I thought I had an sv, my doctor now believes I have an ulcer. I told her my symptoms from the other night and she is almost positive I have an ulcer that was triggered by stress. I had the n*, strong burning pain, gnawing pain, heavy, no appetite and when I would want to eat, 30 minutes later I wanted to v* it up and the burning pain and strong chest pain from the acid came on strong. My stomach is okay now because the stress has decreased( from a prayer being answered)but I am really worried about having an ulcer because of the notorious " coffee grind" v* that comes with it. I don't even look at my v* ( when I do). The lights are off. The last thing I need with my emet is a stomach disorder.

Oh, poor you!! I'm so sorry you feel so awful! I don't have an ulcer, but I've known people who have. The good thing is ulcers can be treated. Once your Dr. determines that you do have one, there are medicines out there to reduce the amount of acid in your stomach. You may have to take them for a few weeks, but during that time ulcers usually do heal.

Do you have another appointment with your Dr.? If not, you should make a follow up and go from there. Remember there are medicines to treat and heal it!

Hang in there and feel better soon!

I have NUD (non-ulcer dypepsia). It is the same symptoms as an ulcer, but in all actuality there is no ulcer. I've had this since 1997 all brought on from a very stressful incident. To this day spicy foods, chocolate, caffeine and STRESS make it act up. You describe the exact symptoms I deal with. Do you also have this heaviness/gnawing feeling directly under the breastbone? It's not painful but it is a terrible, uncomfortable feeling and I too get mild n. I find that when this feeling starts to subside, it makes a gurgling sound like it's breaking up. Do you hear this? Sometimes my husband will rub the area and it feels better, then I will eat and feel 100%. It seems for me that eating something helps it. I'm not over weight but wanted to lose about 20 lbs. and I did the south beach diet. The 1st 2 weeks of the diet you are basically eliminating sugar. I now eat correctly and haven't had a NUD attack since I started this diet in August. The 3rd week of this diet is the way you should normally eat and believe me it made a difference in my health. The way I feel, my real bad constipation problem, I have a youthful figure back for a 49 yr. old, and my stress even seems reduced. Kim

I had an ulcer in the spring which I had quickly treated with a medication called Pantaloc. It was a miracle drug!

    Had an ulcer,

never vomited! Sometimes your stomach hurts so bad you want to or feel like you will, but you never do. I carry Zantac 150's around and take two if it gets real bad, but remember those casue a little constipation and may make your lower back feel bad cause your intestines run through there.

Hope this helps, you most likely won't vomit, you definatlty won't because you are an emet!
