I guess it's just Murphy's Law, your support is gone and the kids get sick!! My poor little boy has been extremely ill for 13 days now and I had him at the dr. Fri. and of course, it's "just a virus". He hasn't had a sv, but he's had 104-105 degree fevers--and v'ing has gone along with it. He has v'ed 3 times since he first got sick. He v'ed ALL OVER me on Thursday night, and of course my husband was with my daughter at a Girl Scout Meeting and the site was down, so I was totally alone!! And then last night, he woke up and screamed uncontrollably for an hour and I had no idea what was wrong with him--he's 19 mos. old and can't tell me!!! I think he had a night terror or something like that from the fevers--has anyone else ever experienced this, I am still really worried, even though he woke up today ALMOST fine. But that's been happening all week, he will wake up okay and then late afternoon comes and the high fevers come back! I amjust really frustrated, because tomorrow will have been 2 weeks since he first got sick!

That's terrible. Donna, I am so sorry your little one is sick. I hope he gets to feeling much much better very soon. That's a long time for a little one to have such a fever! Are the girls staying healthy?

Oh, your poor little guy!! I'm so sorry he's feeling so awful--it so hard when they're that ill and we can't do much to make it better. Hopefully he'll be on the mend soon. It does sound like you're handling it all very well, though!!

    Hang in there!!

The girls are staying healthy, knock on wood. Haley has had a cold, stuffy nose and a cough, Logan has been great--she deserves it, she's usually the sick one!! I have been making her take Airborne every day before school, and it really must help!! Greg and I even caught this cold from Haley and now I have tonsilitis and a sinus infection, and I usually do not get sick!! Aidan doesn't have a fever today but he is still being clingy and making me hold him all day, luckily he is taking a nap at the moment so I have a little bit of free time, and I should be cleaning, but I just do not feel like it!

I think 2 weeks is a long time to be sick with something like that. Maybe get a second opinion. I remember when my daughter was that age and I HATED that she couldn't tell me what exactly is wrong, you just feel so helpless. Hope today is the day he gets better.

    Hi Donna,

Hmmmm. Two weeks is a long time for "just a virus." I am thinking an infection that needs an antibiotic. If this goes on for another week, I would probably push for one ---- and I hate antibiotics.

Hmm could it be a rotavirus? I've heard that its extremely common for little kids to catch it, and pretty much everyone has had it by the time they are 5. I do hope he gets feeling better soon, thats a real long time to be sick.

WEll, when he got sick 13 days ago, I took him to the dr. and they thought his throat was infected so they put him on an antibiotic, he wasn't finished with it when the fever started up again. He isn't sick to his stomach--he's been eating normally--the first time he v'ed was while my husband was giving him ibuprofen, and he gagged, the next time was while his fever was really super high and I gave him COLD water, I think it shocked his system and he threw up (those 2 were on the same night--the first night he was sick) and then Thursdaynight was when his fever spiked back up and he asked for iced tea, so I gave him some and he chugged it and threw it right back up, after he threw up he still ate dinner, roasted chicken, 1/2 a granola bar and 1/2 an apple! So, it's not an SV. I have heard of other people's kids having high fevers and sore throats and that it's lasting a week or more. 2 of my friend's 3 kids each missed a week of school with it. He hasn't had a fever since yesterday morning, but if it comes back again, I will take him somewhere else for a second opinion. Because he went over a week without the fever and then it came back!!! During that time, he still wasn't acting right, he was throwing fits and crying and screaming, which is totally unlike him!! He' still just clinging to me and won't let me out of his sight and then he had that night terror last night, he's just really worrying me!

Maybe you should take him for a follow up or something. ??? It's hard to say. I will keep you in my thoughts.

This sounds like what my girls had last spring. Aches and a high fever. With my kids, it lasted several days, and my oldest v* either from the fever, or the ibuprofen on an almost-empty stomach, since she refused to eat.
I hope the rest of your family stays healthy, and your son gets well soon!
