Hi everyone,

My reasons for fearing throwing up: the feeling of nausea, taste, smell, appearance, retching, and the possibility of repetition. I have forgotten what it feels like to be nauseated, what it smells and tastes like.. The reason I fear other people doing it is because I'm afraid thatI would smell it and it mighttrigger me to get sick. Anybody can describethe feeling of nausea, the smell and tastefor me? I'm really trying to see if I have an idea what those are like, maybe I could reduce my anxiety. I'm sure there are other emets who fear it for those reasons too.

My reasons for fearing it are the same as yours. The last time I was n*I couldn't eat anything, not even a mint. Everytime I think I'm n* I eat mints and suck on ginger. If I'm ok with that,I know I'm not n*.

The chances of an emet vomiting as a result of smelling it are zero. Emets are very strong and can even resist nausea that would make anyone else upchuck. Nausea is a difficult sensation to describe. It seems to be different from person to person, but the one think everyone agrees is part of nausea is an aversion to eating. If you feel like eating, then you are not nauseated.

The smell and taste are influenced mostly by the emission of butyric acid, which is what makes spoiled, rotten butter smell bad. Butyric acid is usually confined to the small intestine.
