I have come to work today and several people have rang in saying they cant come to work because they have stomach viruses!!! Some people have even gone home!
Its been a while since this sort of thing has affected me like this but im really scared! I have some coldsores today so im a bit fragile i hope thats the only reason im feeling so worried and upset about it. Do you guys think they are all jumping on some bandwagen trying to get out of work??

i am starting to feel a bit more calm, kinda hoped someone might of left a comment on here to help encourage me a bit but im used to dealing with this alone so nevermind. I am still a little concerned about one thing, my workmate went home from work this morning, she said she had been vomiting last night and she used the telephone here at work, a few minutes after her, i used the phone too! She hadnt recently been sick though but im still worried that that may mean i could catch it??

Just be sure to wash your hands and dont touch your face. I would definitely clean off the area where she was sitting and wipe down the phone too. I feel for you. I have my own office and theres only 3 of us here and we are all VERY germophobic! Im sure you will be fine. You can likely guess that about half are not really sick, just want to get out of work. Like Georgi said, go overboard with washing hands and if applicable, try to disinfect anything. Avoid the washroom and cafeteria or other places where people are congregating.

Oh, and stay calm! Good luck. Tell us how it goes.

Sorry for the late post -- I would be freaked out too if several people at work became ill but I would practice EXTRA good hygiene for the next few days and would probably go out at lunch and buy come Clorox clean-ups to wipe down phones, keyboards etc (just to be EXTRA safe).

Hope you are feeling less anxious now.

Everyone has given really great advice so as far as that goes it's all been said. But as for them all being ill suddenly ... some probably are trying to get out of work OR are a bit hypochondriac and hear others are sick and feel they are too (hmm, most of us can probably relate) and some are probably legitimately not well ... that said since you all work together it is possible that they all ate the same thing at lunch/went out together and its food related. Or even if it is a sv just do as has been mentioned and you should be just fine. Edited by: SimplyMe

I know EXACTLY how you feel. The other day I went into work and my tummy was not feeling so well but I just figured it was on account of the huge lunch I ate a couple hours before. Anyway, I get into work and two of my co-workers said they weren't feeling well. The one that had a tummy ache said that she was talking to someone and they told her that some weird stomach virus was going around. So I freaked out thinking this HAD to be why I didn't feel good. Long story short, me and my two co-workers wound up being fine. I understand though how it can be really intimidating. For a sec all I wanted to do was go home cause I was so scared. What I find works the best is trying not to think about it. And also reassuring yourself that you have not actually been around anyone you know for 100% sure is sick so you will be fine. Hope all is well!
