I am freakin' here! There is a nationwide recall of some processed meats...including a smoked honey ham that we had for dinner a few nights ago! Of course, I dug through the garbage to try and find the package so I could see if it was made in the affected factory...but I couldn't find it... Listeriosis has an incubation period of up to 90 days................
This is it, I am never eating again

I'm sure the ham you had was fine... They always recall much larger amounts of food than is actually potentially contaminated, and the bacteria is destroyed by cooking anyway. Also, if it's any console, the Wikipedia article on Listeriosis doesn't list v*ing as a symptom of infection.

Listeria is really only a major concern for pregnant women, elderly and immune compromised. It is also killed by cooking it from what I've read.

The biggest concern is the deli meats because you dont cook again them before eating them.

Im in Canada also and am also rather unnerved by this outbreak. But, as they say it's more threatening to immune compromised ppl, the elderly, the young and pregnant women. So im hoping it's all good. But, i think we should definitely avoid deli meats like roast beef and turkey, that includes subway roast turkey and beef subs :

I know I am probably going to be fine..I still wish I could have found the ham package! It was a Schnieders honey ham, and it is sad, because it was really good. I won't be able to eat ham for a while.

There's no reason for anyone on here to panic, or to never eat deli meat again or go to Subway. Adults and children don't get any symptoms with listeria.

Pregnant women aren't supposed to eat deli meats ever anyway.

And if you have cancer or AIDS I'd suggest growing your own food on your apartment balcony -

I stopped eating deli meat and wieners because they say that listeria can harbor in them.

I am craving a damn wiener!

So if you do get it what kind of symptoms do you get?

I'm in Canada too and am pretty freaked out :|
I looked up symptoms and it seems like it's not a big issue for healthy people.

Symptoms are supposedly

Headaches
Fever
Nausea
D*

V* seems to be more for the people with weakened immune systems...

Thankfully
