Default Go to the movies again and NOT worry about v*!

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I'd like to post it and make sure everyone knows about this great resource.

I will go ballistic if I see v*, even in movies and the like. You can imagine that this makes a movie out night very difficult for me.

I go to the site www.kids-in-mind.com

It's really for parents to read over details about the movie before they go. It details EVERYTHING...all possible violence, gore, swearing, sex, etc. They even mention v*, "how bad" the v* scene is (if there is one), and will even mention if someone gags or says they will v*, but don't.

If it's not mentioned at this site, then it won't happen in the movie. It's wonderful! I just skim the review of the movie I want to go to, and if there is NO mention of v* or the like, then I can go and enjoy it without worry!

Thank you very much for this information as I posted #21 on Experiences under the topic "scared of other people" a recent experience which hit me totally out of left field. Of course I didn't know nor was warned that this movie, "The Messenger" would be shown as a learning tool much less the very fast v* scene shown about 3/4s of the way through. Would I have known I'd just shut my eyes (and ears) until I knew it passed. In any case, thanks again and further wonder if Hollywood will ever get the message.

It seems like more and more movies include v* scenes, even kids' movies! I love kids-in-mind.com. I use it all the time, not just to check for v* but also to decide what my kids can see. I remember a couple of years ago, my teenage son wanted to borrow some R rated movies from my cousin. I had him read about them first on this site, and he decided against 3 of them without me having to say a thing against them. The one he still chose to watch, Troy, wasn't too bad, and since he was reading The Oddysey in school, it was actually helpful for him to see that time period and the mythology come to life.

Kids In Mind is awesome, but some of the older reviews don't have V included, just warning you! We had some questions about the amazing film GATTACA on these boards a few months ago, and Kids-In-Mind said nothing about V. Lo and Behold, the film DID include it. I'm not sure what year they started including it in the warnings, but anything more than a few years old I'll be cautious of!

Edit: I checked out the site, and they said things prior to 1998 aren't as stringent as they should be, so keep this in mind when looking for older films!

Re: GATTACA (1997) - Although there are many "Plot Keywords" on Internet Movie Database - IMDb.com - for this film including links to such words as autopsy, urination, etc. and other graphic scenes, it does not include v* or anything related to it. While I never saw this movie, if such verifiable action took place, application can be made to have it included and it will appear on the "Plot Keyword" list in a couple of weeks.

I've said it before, if you have any questions about any scary movies (Brand new or not) having v* in them, I probably can tell you when/where/and if they are included. I see every horror movie that comes out the day it comes out, so you know I am reliable! Anyway that's all I wanted to say.

If you want a super awesome movie (if you don't mind strong violence and language) check out Kick-Ass. It is completely V free and is one of the very few action films I enjoyed! There is blood and whatnot though, so not sure if those may be triggers for you, and spitting out blood.

Kids-in-mind has been a lifesaver for me, but I have found them to be wrong. I will often cross reference it with screenit.com (though this one is only free for older movies). Yes, Gattica does have a V scene. it could easily be missed though. It's the guy in the wheel chair, after a night out with the other young guy. it is from a distance, and at night, so it is not super visible, but you definitely hear it, and can see it. Non emets probably wont remember. My boyfriend didn't.

Just saw Nightmare On Elmstreet remake twice, no v*! No scenes where you even think someone is going to v*. It is a little perverted and awkward at points, so I wouldn't take your kids, BUT great movie nonetheless and totally does the original justice.
