    Default Freaking Out...

Ok, I'm new here and thank you to the two posts to me. It's really nice to feel like you're not alone...

Tomorrow, I have committed to take the twins (17 months old), to MOPS (I'm trying to think of excuses not to go...) I'm freaking out that they're going to get sick and v*... I'm panicking about the whole situation.
This is the 1st time that I'm (a) leaving them alone without me seeing them and not knowing the people taking care of them - daycare setting
    (b) not able to control them putting their hands in their mouths (which they're cutting 4 teeth each at the moment and their hands are living in their mouths),
    (c) not able to control not washing their hands before eating or at least sanitizing them,
    (d) them being around a mass of other kids
    (e) them touching everything other kids have touched and then putting toys or hands in the mouth...

Please someone just talk me out of not making an excuse to not go! I want to go, the kids need to be around other kids, but my fear is... Well, you know...

i can underestand your worry. maybe try to think of it like this...how many other kids are in the class? and how many of them get sick everytime they come home from daycare?
i used to work in daycare and the teachers and staff always make sure the children are hygenic and make them wash their hands before eating and after they go to the toilet. as for them sticking toys and objects in their mouth, that is something im afriad we cant really control. kids need to be exposed to some germs, its good for their immune system. and therefore, being easier to fight of bugs and other stuff. i know its not easy, but just think what good it'll be for them! they will be fine, and so will you !!

Thank you both for your replies. I am sitting here getting the kids to eat breakfast, and I myself am "trying" to eat, but anxiety is kicking in... It will be ok, it will be ok, it will be ok... I'm wanting to cry it's so bad. Why do we have to suffer and deal with this crappy anxiety? Ugh... I thought I was "ok" but now...

try not to stress. once you get used to the kids going off to daycare more and more, you will be less anxious everytime, until you get used to it. every first time thing is scary with this phobia. but the main thing is not to back out, because thats one point for the stupid fear and you'll become more afraid to do other things with your kids and yourself. once you get your kids home and get over those 2 annoying days incase they caught anything, you will feel much better. everything will be fine!!

All I'm doing now is counting down that 48hr period... Lol! It's just that everytime we'd have a playdate with our old neighbors, the kids would get sick (not v*, but other random rare illnesses...). So, I've been traumatized, needless to say. A cold I can handle, but what they've had in the past 1.5yrs is not common!

    Thank you :-)
