    Default Hello, I'm new

Hello everyone, I'm new. an't believe I am 33 and suffered with this awful phobia for so long, not knowing all you guys are going through the same!!! I live in England with my hubby and 3 kids who are 5,3 and 1. I work in the healthcare profession and have done since i was 16!!

Anyway, I want to ask If anyone out there is more worried at night than in the day. I worry about being sick all of the time, but in the evening I am awful!! I an anxious and jumpy. If i hear one of the kids get up I automatically think they are going to be sick. My body just goes cold, i shake, i go all pale. It really is one of the worst feelings ever. I wish so so much i was not like this. It is deeply affecting me. I have had 2 courses of hypnosis and a course of CBT and it has not worked. I am extra on edge tonight as one of the kids at my daughters school was sick yesterday and i am worried she may have it.

On the upside i do feel better knowing loads of you are going through the same/similar thing.

Weirdly enough I know when it happens i will be fine with it as they are my children..... Oh i have rambled a bit.

    Any thoughts??

    Hiya

Yes I always feel worse about sickness at night. I worry about the slightest odd feeling and often wake after a short time asleep in a panic cos I feel n*. Even if I dont feel sick I worry that my body has woken me up cos Im going to v*!! I would like to have CBT cos some of the people on here seem to be getting good results but I dont know if Im brave enough plus I live in Wales and there doesnt seem to be any therapists nearby who know anything about emetophobia.
By the way my daughter is 19 and I still panic if I hear her get up at night cos I think she's ill.

    Hi
I,m new to this too. I totally understand what you mean... I'm a million times worse at night. At the min i am sleeping on the sofa as my partner has been working with someone who has been ill, and i'm terrified of catching anything. When he wakes in the night to go to the loo, i panic like mad thinking the worse!! I have an 18 month old and i'm now getting more and more anxious about bugs with him, I hate it so much i've lived with it all my life, wish there was a pill to make it all go away xx

Same here! I think it's because when as a child, most n and v come at night...at least, for me it was like that.

I could almost have written your post myself! I'm 34, live with my partner and our 11 month old daughter and am a healthcare professional

And yes, my fear is much worse at night. I really don't know why this is (although I think it's because the sv that I got when I was 9 that started my phobia, began in the middle of the night).

    Welcome to the forum!

welcome to you newbies hope you find some help and comfort in here.

i used to dread night time........now i actually look forward to it......i know i don't have to go anywhere....like work....or out with friends or husband......so no anxiety about that. i'm in my comfort zone and being home every night is pretty normal for someone my age....58...lol....does this make sense? i get way more anxious when i have things that have to be done......

i wake up every morning between 3:30 and 4 am.......i get on the computer and get my mind occupied on things before my work day starts.

it's now my favorite time of the day
    how i feel about emet
