There are so many things on here focusing on things that we are afraid of, which is to be expected since we all have a phobia. Sometimes it seems like we are afraid of everything and forget about how far we have come or how many things that we do NOT live in fear of.

They can be things that you have overcome or things that those pesky "normal" people are afraid of that you aren't

I am not afraid of people getting sick in books or film/TV
I am not afraid of babies spitting up
I am not afraid of animals getting sick
I am not afraid of my turtle, even though turtles can carry salmonella
I am not afraid of any animal, not even rats, snakes, or bats
I am not afraid of spiders
I am not afraid of heights
I am not afraid of ghosts or things that go bump in the night

What are you not afraid of?

I am not afraid of touching cow manure.
I am not afraid of ghosts.
I am not afraid of mice or rats.
I am not afraid of bats.
I am not afraid of being kicked or stepped on by a cow.
I am not afraid of driving in the snow. (ice, now that's different - lol)
I am not afraid of eating at restaurants.
I am not afraid of pooping in the woods (lol!)
I am not afraid of driving across many states alone.

I love this thread, thank you for starting it!

Well, while I'm not completely recovered yet, I have made a lot of progress in the last year so I'll post the things I've overcome -

I'm no longer afraid to eat, what I want, when I want, how much I want.
I'm no longer afraid of everything and everyone being contaminated. I have pretty much overcome OCD.
I'm no longer afraid of taking vitamins, or a tylenol when I need it.
I'm no longer afraid of eating food that I haven't prepared.
I'm no longer afraid of getting a haircut (felt trapped in that chair).
I'm no longer afraid to go out... wherever I want, whenever I want. I have completely overcome agoraphobia.
I'm no longer afraid to sit in the middle of a crowded movie theater. I used to have to sit in the isle seat close to the door.
I'm no longer afraid to use public transit.
I'm no longer afraid of being a passenger in a car.
I'm no longer afraid of having guests at my home.
I'm no longer afraid to eat meat.
I'm no longer afraid of going to the bathrroom. There was a time when I was as afraid of having a bowel movement, for fear of having diarrhea which of course would mean vomiting, just as much as I was afraid of vomiting.
And I've pretty much overcome my fear of vomiting.... EXCEPT at the dentist. Sigh.

I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking about. When I look at that list, wow, I've come a very long way from that person that was pretty much a housebound agoraphobic for fear of vomiting, and completely consumed with emetophobia, starving herself again for fear of vomiting, and when I did allow myself to eat it would only be a handful of "safe" foods, and then I would literally count the hours until it was out of my system so I could feel safe again. So thank you again for starting this thread. I have to keep reminding myself of how much I have already overcome and not focus only on what still challenges me.

driving all over the country alone
working on oil rigs out in the ocean
the sounds / feelings in my belly
visiting foreign countries
long boatrides
expressing my feelings to others
crawling / working in tiny spaces
pushing my strength / energy / endurance limits

Those are just a few things I don't fear that EITHER I used to fear, OR that some people might fear but I do not.

I would love to go to Germany and my grandmother wants to take me on a cruse I'm not up to doing either of them yet, but I'll get there!

You would SO love to go on a cruise. Those ships are so large you never would be seasick. They are designed to be amazingly stable!

noro virusses (no bad experiences at all, just diarrhea)
diarrhea
babies spitting up milk
caffeine rushes
sweet food
public transport
mornings and early afternoons
my cat puking (i think...yeah..sort of)

I am no longer scared of needles, or having blood taken. have never been scared of spiders, if I find one in my flat, I just pick it up & put it outside. I am not scared of the dark, ghost or horror stories, in fact most of the books I own are by Stephen King or James Herbert. I`m not scared of being on my own, in fact I love my own company.

Errr Spiders (apart from big ones)

talking to strangers
blood (I used to have a blood phobia the same time I got emet- only that one I got cured of, and emet kinda stuck =/)
driving long distances AS MUCH as I used to be. I can at least do it now anxiety free. I think I have my meds to thank for that


and sadly that's all I can think of right now. But this thread actually helped me a lot. It posed a new question. Rather "what ELSE are you afraid of", it's "what are you NOT afraid of" I'm actually gonna bring this up to my therapist when I go see her in a little while and perhaps have her work with me on more things that I am not afraid of So thank you very much for this thread!
