The panicking makes you feel physically sick. Telling myself this fact has really helped me lately. When you get scared your adrenal glands kick I . They prepare your body for "fight or flight". This means that your brain sends all your blood to you your limbs in preparation for you to run!!! (remember these stories of elderly people being able to lift cars to free people trapped beneath them??) the only thing is that when all your blood is being sent to other places, areas like the stomach (which aren't needed to run away from danger) are shut down. This gives you that panicky, butterfly nauseated feeling. As an emets you feel that and instanstly think uh oh. Then that's all you can think about... Which makes the panic last and that's when ut turns into the vicious cycle. If there was a way of reasoning and deep breathing this would make things so much easier. I'm still working in it but I'm determined to get there!! Don't panic, it's the panicking that's making you feel physically I'll. Other than that it's just the phobia and you're brain working over time x
