Default Help! Extremely scared. please help!

    Hi all.

I was at the Emergency Room today for my wife. Was there for 8.5 hours. I saw a woman with a v* bag with v* in it. She wiped her hand on her mouth! Sick! I know. I saw two other people with v* bags as well. I did my best with washing my hands and stuff. However, the woman was in the in the back. Thus, she had to have touched the door handle to get out. My wife touched the door handle that the woman may have touched. We used WetOnes after leaving the hospital and after she touched the door handle. I am extremely worried that the people with v* bags and that woman had a stomach virus. Very worried. I did touch my mouth. This is why I am scared. Do you think the people at the ER with v* bags and the woman who v* had a stomach virus or do you think it was something different?

Well if they're in the er, its probably not a virus. There are many many causes for v* and maybe they had a disease that isn't contaigious that caused it, like cancer. youll be fine!! i stayed in a hospital for a week and never caught anything!

Oh I know what you're going through!! My father has been taken into the ER by ambulance a few times over the past months and on one occasion there were so many people sitting there with sick bowls on their lap I couldnt stay in the waiting room but had to wait in the foyer like a freak! Another time he was admitted to the main admissions ward which is a place where all new admissions are kept until a place on a suitable ward becomes available. Anyway there was one lady in the bed opposite that v* constantly. I know she couldnt help it but I didnt know what was wrong or whether it was contagious. I only visited for about 20 minutes I couldnt take it any longer but my poor father was stuck there til the next afternoon and he never caught whatever it was. There are lots of reasons why people v* and Im sure you'll be fine. You took all the precautions you could have so I think you'll be safe.

I think we just automatically assume vomit=virus because that is how our brains function, but being an emergency room, people could be in there for numerous reasons aside from just stomach viruses....appendicitis, ulcers, the normal flu, reactions to medication, allergies, various infections, food poisoning, vertigo, concussions, drunken stupidity...anything! Try not to stress!

i feel like that if it were an SV, there would be pretty bad D* too. i had an SV last december and it was 10% V*, and 90% D*.did you see them running to the bathrooms at all? they probably didn't have D* bags, unless they went in their pants. i'm sorry to hear about this horrific experience you went through in the ER. hospitals can be a scary place sometimes =(
