Default Mexico - food/water and getting sick

I'm traveling to Pachuca, Mexico in a few days with my university. This will be my first time in Mexico, and of course, I'm nervous about getting sick!

I have a very sensitive stomach, and I'm not sure of a some precautions I should take, other than not drinking tap water or eating fresh fruits.

I'm determined to have a good time on this trip and not worry about getting sick. Does anyone have any other good tips on what to eat/what to avoid? I would really appreciate it!

Use bottled water to brush your teeth, avoid ice cubes in drinks, and...... have fun!!

I have been to Reynosa, Mexico on the boarder a few times. You definitely don't want to drink anything out of a fountain. I once ordered lemonade and it was served warm and ugh! I also wouldn't eat anything off the street like under tents with food carts. Over all the food is great and some of the best I have ever had. I'm not familiar with the part of Mexico you are going to but if it is more of a tourist spot you'll be okay. I hope you have a good time and stay safe.

I don't think you need to brush your teeth with bottled water. It's Mexico, not Bangladesh. Just be careful about ice in drinks, but don't go overboard. I had one belly incident that made me very nauseated in Puerto Vallarta after eating breakfast, but I have no idea what it was. Most people will just get diarrhea if even that. I wouldn't worry to much about it all. You'll hear mixed opinions on street food. Some people prefer it because you can see everything being prepared right there in front of you. But I still don't trust it myself.
