    Default Settling for emet?

So let us be honest with ourselves...Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?

And where can you see yourself in 40 years? Is it a hard reality or do you have hope for the future? With emet? With yourself.
    Go for it!
    Life is so worth living.

I`m not too concerned about being emet, as there are far worse phobias, such as agoraphobia for example. At least it doesn`t rule my everyday life, & I`m only really affected when someone vs near me, or talks about it.

Red face Re: Settling for emet?

I've pretty much accepted it as a fact of my life. I've been emet since I was about 5, and I'm now 40. I dont know how to live or think any other way and its a little late for me to change now. As weird as it sounds, I kind of consider my emet a personality trait and part of who I am. I've strongly considered therapy, especially when I'm having extended bad periods. Problem is, I won't take meds, except Advil and Tigan, and Exposure therapy is out of the question so I don't leave myself with many options for help
They way i see it, Ive been blessed with a pretty great life and for the most part i like the person who I am and being me in general. My emet is just one of the negative things i have to deal with as part of being me
Every person has their struggles in life whether it be with their weight, unhappy with their choices in life, loneliness, anxiety, depression, not knowing where their next meal is coming from, life-threatening illness either with a loved one or ones self, etc. that emet almost seems like a small price to pay.

Excellent topic. Thank you for posting.

The fact that I don't challenge my fear, that I give into it each and every time, means I've settled for it. Oh sure, I go to therapy, I tell myself that I DO challenge it, but I challenge it only when I know I'm safe (that it's not going to lead me to vomiting). So yes, I'm a slave to emetophobia and I don't know how to free myself.
