Re: Nonsensical Anger :(
I agree that Bridesmaids is a REALLY funny movie aside from that scene, and it's definitely worth watching the rest of it. But I kind of understand where you're coming from. I had a long conversation with my friend about this, because she thinks the v* scene is just as hilarious as the rest of the movie. I wouldn't say I was angry at her but a little annoyed in general at all people who think stuff like that is funny, thereby ensuring that it keeps getting put into movies more and more. I know I shouldn't be annoyed or even think something so entitled as "there should be no v* in movies because it scares/bothers me" because other people have different things that bother them, and if all these things were taken out, eventually there would be nothing left.
I discussed the scene with her in detail (I've never actually watched it) and see it boils down to food poisoning and being humiliated in public. As hard as I try, I can't see how this would be humorous to anyone - it seems wrong to me to enjoy someone else's pain/discomfort/embarrassment. But she finds it funny, and she is not a horrible/mean person. Plus I saw this movie in theaters when it first came out, and I left the theater and stood out in the hallway during that part. I couldn't hear the movie but knew exactly when to go back inside just from listening to the volume of the audience's laughter. So I try to just let it go, as much as it baffles me. Clearly I'm the one with the issue, other people see nothing wrong with it.
