Just heard the incredibly sad news, can you believe it??? Things like this really put things into perspective for me, what about you?. She was only 48, so so sad.

Just saw that myself. Very sad indeed.

this is what drugs do to a person.
So sad.
Fixxer2012, they haven't ruled out a cause of death yet. But, it seems like the most likely cause at the moment considering how she's been with drugs. For right now they said that there's no obvious signs of foul play etc.
It's so sad, we've lost a legend, an amazing talent. Etta James and how Whitney Houston. My mom says this reminds her of when Michael Jackson passed, because it was so sudden. I didn't believe it when I first heard it, I thought it was another hoax. I wish it were. So tragic, her daughter is only what, 16? So sad.

Very sad, indeed. And while they haven't ruled on anything yet, we'd be a fool to think it may have been linked to much of anything else besides drugs. Hollywood is such a sad scene, but I typically save my sympathies for all the men and women who lost their lives over in Iraq fighting for our freedom and not movie stars with all their drug and alcohol issues. I'm EXTREMELY put off by how much media coverage that stuff gets all the time
I know what you mean, people die all the time, this was just a huge shock to those who knew her when they were growing up (like my mom). The problem is, you will be hearing about this for weeks now on the news and in the media. As sad as it is there are people dying every day defending our country. Shame they don't do more to remember them, no one person is better than another.
I think it's really sad and it definitely does put things in perspective. Whether someone has a problem with drugs and/or alcohol or not, it's sad when one who was very much loved passes away.

Apparently she was found in the bath, and it has been said that she takes Xanax before major shows. It's possible that she'd taken a Xanax and a bath to relax, and fallen asleep and drowned. REGARDLESS of how her passing was caused, it's so sad and now her daughter has been hospitalized for stress/anxiety (but is now released,). That poor girl. They wouldn't even let her see the body when she arrived to say goodbye, heartbreaking.

I agree it's very devastating news, but to be honest, I'm going to have to agree with fixxxer on this one. I understand that people may be in compromised situations and want to try and take the edge off so to speak, but the end result of drug use/abuse is why I've stayed out of the drug scene and will continue to do so. I just lack respect for people who choose to deliberately waste so much potential. I understand the addiction, believe me, I do. I used to have a self injury problem and I still relapse if something so significant in my life is happening and I am at a loss of how to deal with it. However, I don't believe that justifies participating in activities that are detrimental to your health, i.e smoking, drinking, and the list goes on. Perhaps it was how I was raised but I just don't respect people who pump toxins into their body. How could anyone think the 'benefits'--nonexistent in my mind, outweigh the costs? It's beyond my comprehension I suppose. Nevertheless, the news is still sad. R.I.P
I also understand where the previous posters are coming from about how so much attention is brought to celebrity's freak demises such as this whereas no one bats an eye for the men and women in the armed forces and children who are literally starving to death around the world. It's just pitiful. I have respect for all human life but I think Whitney's death should not be broadcasted for the next decade like it's going to be. Incredibly sad like I had already stated, but not 'BREAKING NEWS' worthy.
Honestly I think a death is still a death is sad and tragic regardless if it was for just causes.
If someone commits suicide because they are deeply depressed, would you say "oh what an idiot"? Probably not. I try to not be prejudiced about other peoples inner demons, it's sad. She probably had people around her that could have done something, it's really sad when society fails someone.

Not sure if your post was directed at me lizzo, but I will respond regardless. Like I had originally said, maybe it has a lot to do with how I was raised. No, I would never consider someone an 'idiot' if they had willingly taken their own life because I have been in that position before. However, I would lose respect for that person. When I attempted, I was told by dozens of people, they would not respect me if I had succeeded. Anyways, I come from an extremely traditional family on both my mom's side and my dad's side and drug/alcohol use is just unheard of. It's taboo and I tend to gravitate towards people who share the same views as I, but of course we can agree to disagree. I never said her death wasn't sad. I clearly stated several times it was but I just do not think celebrity deaths should necessarily be glorified as much as they are.

No, not directed at you at allI'm tired and not writing properly, I just meant to say that I find a death sad regardless if it's due to drug addiction or a casualty of war.
Drug addiction and mental illness go deeper than self-harming actions. Certain people have a predisposition to develop addictions due to heredity and brain chemistry, not everyone can help themselves. The prejudiced attitudes don't really help anyone in the long run, imho.

I couldn't believe it either. How sad.
RIP to a great entertainer.
If it wasn't drugs she was doing in the present, unfortunately the past just catches up to people..its horrible what drugs do to people....of course, either way, RIP Whitney. You really just never know.
My father died of a drug over dose in 2006, probably the worst day of my life. Drugs are the worst I've seen both my sister and father struggle withthis disease for years, and that's why I refuse to even touch a drug I do drink my wine and what not but not until 21. There times where I could have got anxiety meds but refused it. But ill tell you this my dad was the nicest guy and very loving and I felt so bad because sometimes you get so deep into something its hard to get out. My father would stay sober for the longest times and then go back to it. I find it very sad for people to have to lose a loved one like this, just because someone took drugs doesn't make them a bad person or people shouldn't be sad for them, they are just a person that made a wrong choice and didn't think of the consequences.. I learned from my fathers mistakes and I will always be thankful for that. Just add I feel the worst for whitneys daughter I've been through that pain, and I know she's was a drug addict but losing a parent reguardless of drugs is painful.
