It's hard to tell if it's a virus or not. Sometimes only 1 person in the whole house would get sick, and sometimes everyone does. It's all on hygiene. A virus could make you v* all day with no d*, or the opposite. If it's been 6 days then most of the family is in the clear as I believe it's 72 hours from ingestion. I'm sure you brother-in-law is fine.
