Hey, I started taking citalopram a few months ago and posted the exact same question on here. I got a lot of responses from people who had taken it saying they had no problems with nausea or vomiting and that's certainly been my experience. The only thing I've noticed is I get really vivid dreams and night sweats (but I just came off b/c to so not sure if it's down to that). I would defi recommend it - have noticed a big difference since I started on it! If you are worried about side effects maybe you could see if you can start on a low dose and gradually work up - that's what i've been doing.

I take it, same as kam00096. No nausea or vomiting (I think i had a little nausea when i first started taking them but it was VERY mild and went away quickly). I just have vivid dreams now. I started on 10 mg for 2 weeks, then 20 for 2 weeks, and now I've been at 40 for months.
PM me for contact info such as skype, email, or facebook. Thanks!

Been taking these since October 2010. Started on 10mg, then 20mg then finally 40mg with no problem apart from vivid dreams. These are so random and funny that I often tell family and friends who think theyre hysterical haha! My dr said they were the best anti-depressant/anti-anxiety she knew of that were unlikely to cause stomach upsets.

I had been on 10mg for several months to a year and recently got bumped to 20mg, I had...let's say increased depression side effects but they seemed (hopefully I don't change it by saying this) to have leveled off. I don't remember feeling n*, maybe just a bit on that last one, I'm not even sure.

ive been on citalopram twice now.my experience has been as long as dose is increased and decreased gradually then nothing major <bad> happens, just felt bit "not myself"
ive never slept well on it but tis very good for the anxiety and depression so i figure thats a worth while trade off!

I take citalopram, have taken many other drugs as well...no vivid dreams but with any med i take i find I have mild nausea for the first two weeks and then it levels off. It doesn't bother me cause i know it's not a virus, just med adjustment. Any and all drugs I have tried have done the same...just take as perscribed, missing doses etc can make you feel nauseated. Take care.

I take it with no problems at all. I'd recommend just putting a bit of food in your stomach first. It's a great med! Doesn't help me with emetophobia, but it's good for general anxiety.

Yes, it will pass eventually. It's the chemistry changing in your brain. Just keep taking it and it will pass.
