    Default In a complete state

I don't what the hell is happening to my body.

I came down with a cold last Thursday. I lost my voice over the weekend and this week just rode through the cold.

I've been feeling lethargic but put it down to the cold. Then yesterday I kept getting stomach pains. My IBS had been okay so I put it down to something I ate that upset it. I had to leave town though as I just started to feel so crappy. I came home, had d* (only once) and took a Phenergan as the n* was quite intense, and ended up sleeping. I must have needed it! I woke up later and went out with a friend for a couple of hours.

Today, I was fine until about lunchtime. The stomach pains came back. I thought that it MUST be like a post nasal drip as I've had a lot of mucus (sorry if TMI) so went to my mums. I felt really lethargic again but thought after yesterday I'd be okay. I had a loose bm* but not d* while I was there. Then after dinner, the pains were back again but I couldn't go to the loo!!!

I came home, felt alright-ish and ate a little pastry my OH had bought me. Was fine, but now, the pains are back. I feel really n*. I keep going to the loo. Sometimes d*, sometimes I can't go, other times it's like nuggets. Sorry!!!

The weird thing is, I also have this rash on my legs. I got it checked out and they weren't sure what it was at the docs. I've also started spotting even though I'm on the pill. I feel so messed up and I'm so scared to even move to be honest. Please help, what on earth is my body doing?!

With a cold, the body can take weeks to fully recover. Some days will be good, then the next day crappy. That is quite common. And when you are feeling lousy, your ibs will act up. What concerns me is the rash. What kind of rash it is? It is all over your legs? Does it itch, or is it painful? The only reason I ask is because it could be from an allergic reaction. Also, spotting while on the BCP is quite common also. But, if you are spotting, and have nausea/loose bowels, that leads me to believe your hormones may be a bit out of whack...

I am not a doctor.. but I play one on TV!

Thank you, it means a lot to hear just some reassurance. The cold I could deal with, it's just how rubbish my tummy has been. I feel like I can't be out for a long which is just so frustrating!

Okay the rash... I know this sounds pathetic but I'm dying to talk about it, is that weird?! Lol! It's embarassing but I really want to know what it is. It's not all over my legs, but it's all on the back of my thighs, the inside of my thighs, and (sorry if tmi) on my bum. It's not itchy in the slightest with the nurse found strange. She thought it might be fungal, which sounds gross but she said everyone gets one at some point in their life! I've used some cream they gave me which hasn't done anything though.

The rash itself is patchy, almost scaly, and red. But it does not hurt one little bit.

I've had problems with spotting before, I'm just concerned that with it happening again and with everything else it feels horrible. How would I determine if my hormones are out of whack?

And you play a doctor?! That is cool!!! Are you in a show I'd know about?! Sorry to be nosey!

LOL, sorry to confuse you...no I don't play a doctor on TV. Years ago there was a commerical with an actor who played on general hospital. It was for some medicine ( I dont remember what though) and it started off by him sayng ... "I am not a doctor, but I play one on TV"... So, it has always been a running joke with my generation when people give medical advice they say "Im not a doctor, but I play one on T.V".... So, it was just my way of joking around... sorry if I confused you...

Anyhow...the good thing is, if the rash does not hurt, then it isn't shingles. If they don't itch, probably not allergic reaction. It probably is fungal or skin irritation. You probably sat on something that irritated your skin (since it is on back of legs and bum) This may sound weird, but have you recently worn or tried on new pants? Sometimes the chemicals that are on them from the dyeing can irritate the skin. I always was new jeans before I wear them for that exact reason.
Also, the 5th disease (usually a child virus) can cause a rash on body, aches, pains, etc. It is a virus and clears up on it own.

OHHH haha! Oh I feel stupid right now lol!!! I'm so sorry!

I haven't got any new pants I don't think, but you're right about where it is, and sitting. I need to think if I've got any new clothes recently, will have to have a think.

I'll do a bit more research on fifth disease. Is it possible it can happen in young adults? (I'm 21)

Thank you for all your help x

OMG, please don't feel stupid. You are too young to remember that commercial, so how could you know I was making a joke?

Yes, 5th disease can happen at any age, but it is generally a childhood virus. But it causes a scaly rash, achiness, fever, malaise, etc. There are numerous reason for a rash like that, did you change laundry detergent or soap? New dryer sheets? That area is generally where clothes ft the snuggest.

Also, it could be eczema, or even scabies (a contagious mite that bited the skin)

Okay well I had a look on google images, and my rash doesn't look much like the rash associated with fifth disease. The patches are larger. But I definitely have the lethargy and stuff. I'm so worried if it's something hormonal and it will make me v*.

I can't think of any laundry changes. I do tend to have sensitive skin, so I've only ever used sensitive products. I even use a dermo care shower gel so it's not too harsh on my skin. What should I do? I hope I don't sound too pathetic x

I thought she played a dr on tv too haha!!! It sounds like your stomach problems are a flare up of IBS probably brought on by the cold. Your body isnt dealing with things 100% cos its been busy fighting off that. As for the rash I dont really know, but if the nurse wasnt concerned then I wouldnt worry. Just keep an eye on it incase it spreads. Perhaps you need to take it easy for a few days & pamper yourself.

I have never heard of a rash causing vomitting. As for the hormonal thing, very slim slim chance it would make you vomit. If it was going to, it woould have by now. I am going through perimenopause, and my hormones are ALL over the place I get nausea from it, but it doesnt make me sick. I am also cranky as hell, lol. Hormonal shifts can make you uncomfortable, but thatd about it.

Oh I'm glad I wasn't the only one Claire heehee! And yes, I'm hoping you're right, it's just all the mucus and stuff playing havoc with my tum. I'm signed off of work with severe anxiety at the mo, so perhaps the rest will do me good.

I feel so sorry for you going through all those mood swings and what not. Is it something the doctor diagnoses?

Its a good thing you havent got the added pressure of having to be anywhere. You can recover at your own pace.

Im going through something similar myself. Been off work for a week with God knows what! The dr seemed to think it could be a virus but he also gave me antibiotics for a possible urine infection/chest infection! Hoping to go back to work in morning but my stomachs dodgy at the moment. Ive been to the toilet twice in 4 hours & its gurgly & crampy & it feels like Im about to have d*.

If you are taking antibiotics, that is the culprit for the diarrhea and stomach upset, very common.
