The definition of a phobia is actually that you are aware that the behavior is irrational so it makes sense you'd be irritated by people being "crazy" about emet when you're not in the same situation, because they are irrational thoughts. It's just that when in a panic, we, well, panic and for a short while the fear takes over logic so we become irrational too.
