Default OT: Threw My Back Out

I threw my back out at work yesterday. I was promptly sent home and I went that night to my chiropractor. He worked with me a little and said I was too inflamed for much more. He sent me home recommending Ice, rest, and Ibuprofon. He will be calling me tomorrow to see how I feel and make another apt to look at me. Right now I am in the worst pain of my life. It hurts to sit, stand, lay, move, everything. I don't know how to get through the day. It took me 20 minutes AND my bf's help to get into a chair and get ice on it. The pain is wicked intense. Has anyone else had a similar issue? How did you survive?

I tore my hamstring a few years back, and it was excruciating. Really all I could do was ice it and wait for it to heal enough that I could move around again. Lots of ibuprofen, lots of rest. I'm sorry this happened, it sucks Feel better soon!

Man Kaydee that sounds like it was horrible! I'm in the same boat though, just ice and wait. It sucks because I'll only be comfy in one position for so long before it gets excruciatingly painful, and then I have to move and find a new safe position. I'm about ready to ask the doc if I can just get trashed for the pain LOL

Yeah, it's amazing how one position that starts off comfortable can end up so awfully painful! I get where you're coming from, definitely. Ugh, go for it! I had some strong painkillers between my first physio visit where he said he refused to work on it until the swelling went down and the doctors visit where I got sent to a specialist. If you want to chat about it or whine or anything, feel free to facebook me! The waiting sucks while you're trying to feel better >_<

Aww you're so sweet thank you! Right now I'm distracting myself with Reddit and Ni No Kuni. I'm set up here with a water bottle, ice, my teddy bear, and a bucket just in case (yeah that's how bad the pain is...)

THANKFULLY there is no anxiety, just scared that if I do get sick it's going to fuck up my back more.

Aw, Bonnie, I'm so sorry it's so bad for you Well, the offers there if you need someone to chat to Reddit is a good distraction though. I also love the sites iwastesomuchtime.com and thisiswhyimbroke.com Excellent time wasters!

Oh I know how you feel I threw my back out a few years ago. The pain was crazy it takes your breath away when you move. I took Motrin and used a heating pad. The crazy thing is it happen when I bent down to pick up a laundry basket. I told my hubby see the danger in doing housework. I did notice it seems easier now to pull muscles in my back in that same area now after that happen.

Oh no! The good news is you'll be in the house away from all the germs...? Just kidding. I know it sucks. I would totally be all about the pain meds. I got hurt over the summer (pulled my rhomboid muscle in a whitewater rafting flip :/ ), and I iced like crazy for the first few days, then I think alternated heat and ice? I took Ibuprofen 800 and muscle relaxers. Eventually got 2 cortisone shots in it and stocked up on Biofreeze. I, too, notice like Natiebear said, that it still seems to flare up occasionally in that same spot. Hope you feel better soon. Great time for catching up on movies!!

I first had bachache a year after my hysterectomy, & as it only happened now & again I left it, but recently It got worse & I went to a physiotherapist. He said that it could have been the operation affecting my body core strength, & gave me some exercises to do at home. Theyr`e working slowly but surely. I know how annoying it is to have bad back ache.

Thanks everyone! I have another apt today at 3:45, I'm hoping the swelling has gone down enough for him to see what is going on. Ugh I'm not a happy person.
