    Default Tomatoes?

I eat a lot of tomatoes, I love them. I usually slice them and dip them lightly in a bit of avocado ranch dressing. I usually sit down and eat about 2 at a time, 3 if I'm really hungry. Anyway I'm wondering what kind of effect do tomatoes have on your stomach? For example bananas and toast are supposed to be light and easy on the stomach. Tomatoes have never made me feel sick before but I still worry! Is there any chance they are hard on the stomach or a bad thing to eat with an upset stomach?

I don't think they are harmful, but because of their acid it would probably be best to avoid them after a stomach illness. Soft foods like saltine crackers and the BRAT diet are best. I am allergic to bananas, so for me it would be the BRATS diet; broth, rice, applesause, toast and saltines. Bananas can be good bulk-forming foods after d*. This diet is recommended for up to 24 hours after last illness.

I eat tomatoes often and the worst thing that's ever happened is a bit of heartburn once in a blue moon.

They can trigger heartburn but not in everybody. Some people say as a member of the deadly nightshade extended family they can cause inflammation. That having been said I LOVE them, cooked, raw, eating them growing them. I even have some little ones that I am trying to grow from seed in the backyard. Don't let emet rob you of your tomatoes, especially if they settle well on your stomach and you like them.

Tomatoes are awesome! I have chronic heartburn, and tomatoes aggravate it, but I still eat them from time to time. They have a lot of good vitamins in them, too.

I eat tomatoes all the time. I love them too As others have said, maybe not the best recovery food after a sv, but they won't hurt you.
